Join us as we talk the Flyway Film Festival and independent film. We expect to be joined by filmmakers Gary King- WHAT'S UP LOVELY, Bill Elverman- THE WINTRESS and Gregory Kallenberg-HAYNESVILLE.
We'll begin to roll out the 2010 Flyway Film Festival program and touch on some of the film highlights, and feature programs.
We'll also talk crowd sourced funding, the ins and outs, with some of our guests and look to get listener input and see if we can determine if this is the right medicine for what ails the indie film industry, and maybe just how much this tool really helps get projects green lighted.
We'll also talk about some of our favorite indie films of this past summer and some of the most anticipated films coming this fall.

Caroline Sorokoff, Director of The Gold Coast Film Festival joins me today. From November 3-9, 2014 the Gold Coast Arts Center, in conjunction with the Town of North Hempstead, will present the 4th annual Gold Coast International Film Festival (GCIFF), and everyone’s invited—again—to join us for this special week of films, parties, panels, and glamour!
This year, we are proud to announce that four-time Academy Award-winning Production and Costume Designer (The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge!)Catherine Martin will be accepting the Gold Coast International Film Festival Artist of Distinction Award at our Opening Night Gala, taking place at Leonard’s Palazzo 555 in Great Neck on Monday November 3rd. Also being honored is President of the Gold Coast Arts Center, Michael Glickman, who will accept the Man of the Year Award; and Marie Cecile Flageul & Jonathan Cohen, (known as Meres One) who will receive the Art & Activism Award.
Screenings and events at this year’s festival will take place at the Soundview Cinemas in Port Washington and at Bow Tie Cinemas in Great Neck/Port Washington/Manhasset/Roslyn as well as at other venues including the Gold Coast Arts Center in Great Neck. Our guest will be the very talented Terrell Sandefur, founder of the Macon Georgia Film Festival (MaGa). The Macon Film Festival was created to celebrate the art and craft of the moving image, and to introduce independent films that rarely appear in Macon, Georgia. MaGa is dedicated to entertaining, educating, and inspiring audiences and filmmakers alike by offering innovative and imaginative films both mainstream and independent in nature. We also strive to introduce visiting filmmakers and guests to the Central Georgia community, and to promote film production in the area. The festival runs Feb. 16 -19
The 48 Hour Film Project, the world’s largest filmmaking competition, is coming to Nashville from July 13-15. The competition will be hitting nearly 120 cities around the world from New York to Africa to Asia, Europe, and more, challenging local residents to make a film from inception to completion in 48 hours. Our guests for this show will be producer Deborah Gordon, and film team leaders Jeremy Pearce and Joe Carol.
One of the most recognizable venues for independent films, the Sundance Film Festival is set to start this week. The week and a half event explores talent in filmmaking in multiple genres, which could be the future of movies.
One of the producers of the event, Danny Thompson, will help celebrate the 5th year of the Independent Filmmaker’s Lounge at Sundance, an event that will feature Film screenings, junkets and Q&A sessions with stars such as Michael Cera, John C Reilly, Jack Black, Keanu Reeves, and Nicolas Cage.
Thompson will give us a rundown of the Lounge, and help us with a preview of the festivities in Park City, UT.
Having worked with Filmstock since its inception in 2009 through showing his films and helping out wherever he could, James Lee is now responsible for organizing the festival & its films.

Filmstock Arizona is the final three-day showcase of the year for Filmstock Film Festival. Taking place at the Harkins Valley Art Theatre on Mill Avenue during the Festival of the Arts, this three-day event includes over 40 short films, a live actor's showcase, and get-togethers every day for chances to meet the filmmakers themselves!
The new indie film GRACE, will makae its world premiere April 18th at the upcoming Nashville Film Festival. Rooted in powerful performances by Annika Marks (“The Sessions”) and Sharon Lawrence (“NYPD Blue”), “GRACE.” compassionately looks at the disease of addiction through a young woman inching towards redemption. Grace was produced by Emmy Award-winning director and producer, Sylvia Caminer, who's our guest on this show.
