Part of building your Back to Basics Kitchen is stocking the pantry. One of the keys to stocking it is keeping a budget. But do coupons freak you out? Seem like a waste of time?
On this episode I talk with the creator of a tool that I've used for YEARS! If couponing ever confused or overwhelmed you, you may like this free website!
Jenny Martin is the writer behind SouthernSavers.com, one of the leading frugal living websites in the South. Her goal is to teach a purposeful, relaxed approach to saving money on almost everything you buy. As a mom of four little girls eight and under, Jenny’s focus is on finding ways to coupon, deal hunt, and shop in the quickest, most time conserving manner – that way you can get back to what’s truly important, like playing games and coloring with the kids!

The space dilemma can be extremely frustrating when entertaining family and friends during the holidays.
Is your extended family growing and your house is still the same size? Yeah, we have that challenge, too.
We've invited Kim Lewis, the powerfully creative lead designer behind more than 120 homes for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and is the designer for FYI's 'Tiny House Nation.'
When The Washington Post asked Kim how to max storage in a small space, Kim answered:
"Storage can come in all shapes and sizes. I say let's get creative with your furniture. You can use things like vintage suitcases stacked as your side tables...Each suitcase is a storage space. Storage ottomans work well as a linen closet! For food storage, I suggest a butcher cart in the kitchen, with bins below -- I have a tiny kitchen, and this is what I do! Also acts as a great island when you're prepping food. For outdoor gear, I have suspended a wood pallet from the ceiling with eye hooks."
Theresa challenged Kim's holiday entertaining creativity with a 1-cubic-foot box challenge. What would you pack in a 1-cubic foot box that are your holiday entertaining essentials?

This evening’s show looks closely at society’s collapsing institutions and infra-structure, against a backdrop of eco-systemic collapse, extreme weather, massive pollution and Climate Change and how we humans navigate and are to emotionally deal with, adapt to this severe situation of life as we know it changing dramatically before our very eyes. Can we adapt cooperatively and evolve collectively? Can we use this profoundly challenging situation as an opportunity to grow?
To discuss this, Mitchell’s guest this evening is Carolyn Baker, Ph.D. who has written and worked with these issues with her students and clients for years. Carolyn was an adjunct professor of history and psychology for 11 years and a psychotherapist in private practice for 17 years.

This subject of dealing responsibly and creatively with the collapsing of eco-systems and society is central to our lives today. Tune in and get familiar with these thoughts and terrain.
