The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah.
Now it happened in the month Chislev, in the twentieth year, while I was in Susa the capitol, that Hanani, one of my brothers, and some men from Judah came; and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped and had survived the captivity, and about Jerusalem. They said to me, “The remnant there in the province who survived the captivity are in great distress and reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down and its gates are burned with fire.”
When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven. I said, “I beseech You, O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who preserves the covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, let Your ear now be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer of Your servant which I am praying before You now, day and night, on behalf of the sons of Israel Your servants, confessing the sins of the sons of Israel which we have sinned against You; I and my father’s house have sinned. We have acted very corruptly against You and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the ordinances which You commanded Your servant Moses. Remember the word which You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful I will scatter you among the peoples; but if you return to Me and keep My commandments and do them, though those of you who have been scattered were in the most remote part of the heavens, I will gather them from there and will bring them to the place where I have chosen to cause My name to dwell.’ They are Your servants and Your people whom You redeemed by Your great power and by Your strong hand. O Lord, I beseech You, may Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant and the prayer of Your servants who delight to revere Your name, and make Your servant successful...

In this episode we'll continue looking at the book of Haggai. Last week we learned that neglect and passiveness towards God lead the exiles into proverty! Today I'll be focusing on the "Promises Of God". In chapter 2, we see the second message of Haggai the Prophet to all that had begun the rebuilding process....in his goodness, the Lord remembers his people in demanding times.....Haggai reassure God's people that he was with them in what they were doing, and that they needed to keep moving forward and trust him. Listen now as we experience another message, another challenge, and a promise of glory!
“For the day of the Lord draws near on all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you. Your dealings will return on your own head. “Because just as you drank on My holy mountain, All the nations will drink continually. They will drink and swallow And become as if they had never existed.
“But on Mount Zion there will be those who escape, And it will be holy. And the house of Jacob will possess their possessions. “Then the house of Jacob will be a fire And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau will be as stubble. And they will set them on fire and consume them, So that there will be no survivor of the house of Esau,” For the Lord has spoken.
Then those of the Negev will possess the mountain of Esau, And those of the Shephelah the Philistine plain; Also, possess the territory of Ephraim and the territory of Samaria, And Benjamin will possess Gilead. And the exiles of this host of the sons of Israel, Who are among the Canaanites as far as Zarephath, And the exiles of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad Will possess the cities of the Negev. The deliverers will ascend Mount Zion To judge the mountain of Esau, And the kingdom will be the Lord’s.
Savior means deliverer or preserver. A term applied to mighty men, rulers, and ancient gods but supremely in the Bible to Jesus Christ. Basic to the Old Testament is the concept that God is the deliverer of His people. No man could save himself; only God was Savior. In Hebrew savior is a participle, not a noun, which may indicate that in the thought of the Old Testament this term is not so much a title as it is a description of God’s activity in behalf of His people. Although not a Messianic term in the Old Testament, the Messiah is described in the Old Testament as one coming to offer salvation to all nations. Mighty men whom God used as instruments of deliverance for His people were also in the Old Testament...

Reaction was more muted in Miami, where Cuban exiles have had a hard time accepting Mandela's respect for Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
Castro's smile as Obama moved to shake his hand on the way to speak at the ceremony was seen by many Cubans as a signal of reconciliation, after more than a half-century of bitter ideological and political differences between the two countries whose shores are separated by only 90 miles.Reuters

in Rock Music
Hosted by Donovan de Necker of The Old-Timers from South Africa, we try and bring you the best in Christian hard music, especially promoting the JCHC scene. This episode features Ninah Llopis, better known as the bass player / vocalist for punk crossover thrash band - The Lead.
The Lead was an Christian punk band from Florida, formed in 1984. The Lead helped pioneer Christian punk music. They were one of the first bands to break the mold of the traditional, Christian music of the early 1980s.

Some of the bands they played with either as openers or headliners, included Suicidal Tendencies, DRI, MDC, Marginal Man, Cynic, Bloodgood,The Crucified, Believer, WhiteCross, One Bad Pig, Deliverance, Vengeance Rising, and Crash Dog.
