Break the Branch, Filmmaker and Visual Artist, Samantha Cornwell

    in Visual Arts

Samantha Cornwell is a filmmaker, visual artist and writer. She is to be honored this month at the Winter Festival Event held by Melanie Closs and The Other Side, a resident guest on Voice of Evolution Radio.

Samantha's work finds the visual sensuality in her subjects, using color and texture as an extension of their spirits. Her music videos include Speculator, Love Like Deloreans, Psychik Handbook and others. Her artwork appears in spaces such as Public Fiction Gallery, This Must Be the Place Gallery, and Hunter East Harlem Gallery.

Break the Branch is her first feature, and will be shown at the International Film Festival of Spirituality Religion and Visionary in Jakarta, Indonesia as well as the Delhi Women’s International Film Festival. Break the Branch is a documentary portrait of the women of the Pardada Pardadi Educational Society in rural Northern India.

“It is a true honor to be selected as the guest of honor for The Other Side Winter Festival this year. I have been involved with this organization since its early days, and it has been really a beautiful thing to watch it grow from a magical spark ... into a multi faceted organization offering an important outlet for young girls to express themselves. If it weren’t for my work with The Other Side, I probably would not have ever made Break The Branch. I truly owe them a great debt of gratitude.”

You may join Melanie and Samantha at the Winter Festival on December 12th at 3-5 PM at Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, NY!

I found the Book at the Friends of the Whittier Library “Used Book Store” and truly enjoyed the book

In an example of how the Cosmic Universe works

“The Chase 1947 “story came up and the last Paragraph talked about the Tenor Sax Duo between Wardell Gray & Dexter Gordon

I truly recommend the Book has it has already provide leads to new shows and new insights into Southern California.

There is the Tie in with playing “Forgotten Music on 78 RPM Records”

I could not find (and did not want to wait to find) the 78 rpm But I was able to find the CD

And hear the song behind the story

I do not claim to be a music expert but I thought what an idea to take two sources and do a show about it without comment and let the stories and the song stand on their own

Thank You to Noelle Sullivan (if you listen to this show I would like to invite you to join me on another show)
