Dark Mirror Evocation and Angelic Invocation (re-broadcast)

    in Radio

This Thursday the Hermetic Hour will present a lecture by Poke Runyon on Dark Mirror Evocation and Angelic Invocation that was first delivered at a symposium sponsored by Paul Clark's Fraternity of the Hidden Light in 2002. This talk will reveal the philosophy, the techniques, and the effects related to these "grand operations" of ceremonial magick: how to summon spirits, and call down angels. Poke will discuss this subject in depth, and give the psychological, spiritual and traditional background behind our most dynamic form of modern urban shamanism. This talk will be directed toward those sincerely interested in this subject. It will be dense with facts, techniques and practical instructions. It may be too heavy for parlor room 'fluffy bunnies,' but if you want to outgrow your fluff, tune in and find out how the boys and girls back in the dim-lit, blue-painted garages do it. Good Magick! Evocation to the gods & altered states

    in Spirituality

In some traditional magical systems, evocation, communicating with spirits, is considered to be one of the most dangerous and difficult arts. Upon closer observation, however, evocation is a form of behavior that most of us experience
on a daily basis, though we might not think of our actions in those terms. It has a basis in neurology and is a natural, unconscious process.

Join us for a guided exploration of a simple, safe and extremely useful form of magical evocation. Mr. Farber will explain the process and take willing listeners on a short experiential journey to find the spirits that share our lives.

Suspense Radio Inside Edition - June 13th, 2015

    in Books

Suspense Radio is pleased to bring you three fantastic authors on today's 90 minute show. Suspense Radio is brought to you by Suspense Magazine. www.suspenseradionetwork.com  www.suspensemagazine.com

Kate White, James Born and Mary Lawrence are today's guests.

Kate White "The Wrong Man": She wanted to be more daring, but one small risk is about to cost her everything—maybe even her life. (Our Review) “This newest book by bestselling author Kate White is sure to become this summer’s prominent ‘beach read.’… A great novel that builds to a superb ending, Kate White has scored an A+ once again.”

James Born "Scent of Murder": Two years after being tossed from the detective bureau for using questionable tactics while catching a child molester, deputy Tim Hallett's life is finally on track. Assigned to a special K-9 unit with the best partner in the world, a Belgian Malinois named Rocky, Hallett has finally learned to balance police work with his family life. But that all changes in the heat of a Florida sugarcane field.

Mary Lawrence: "The Alchemist's Daughter": “A realistic evocation of 16th century London’s underside. The various strands of the plot are so skillfully plaited together.” —Fiona Buckley

In the year 1543 of King Henry VIII’s turbulent reign, the daughter of a notorious alchemist finds herself suspected of cold-blooded murder…

Bianca Goddard employs her knowledge of herbs and medicinal plants to concoct remedies for the disease-riddled poor in London’s squalid Southwark slum. But when her friend Jolyn comes to her complaining of severe stomach pains, Bianca’s prescription seems to kill her on the spot.

    Prodigy – Never Let Go

    Never Let Go

    Leftfield Music Group/DMDMG (2013)

    https://www.facebook.com/ProdigyOfColumbusGa

By Bob Marovich for The Black Gospel Blog

Hailing from Columbus, Georgia, Prodigy blends contemporary harmonies with traditional lead vocals, though their one-title name suggests they prefer association with the contemporary quartet movement.  As such, they are akin to groups such as Houston’s Endurance and the Wardlaw Brothers who are faithful to the quartet lyric but bring the music forward.

Nevertheless, Prodigy’s up-tempo and joyous “Jesus Took Care of Me,” from Never Let Go, has already been a TBGB Pick of the Week.  The almost equally delightful “Singing Praises,” and “I Got Jesus,” with its “Holy Ghost power” vamp an evocation of the Victory Travelers, also move at warp speed.

On the more deliberate pieces, Prodigy is a deep, hard-singing quartet, as pleading, passionate lead vocals spar with smooth harmonies.  With a pleasantly embellished delivery, Jerald Griffin (“Walk With Me”) is the group’s most versatile vocalist, while Bruce Smith handles the up-tempo gems with shouts that sound straight outta church.

Che Guevara, Marijuana, Baseball and the Peace Corps? Meet Author Jack Shakely!

    in Books

Jack Shakely is president emeritus of the California Community Foundation in Los Angeles. His essays and opinion pieces have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Denver Post and many other newspapers.
His two novels, "The Confederate War Bonnet," and "POWs at Chigger Lake," are both set in Oklahoma, Shakely's home state. "The Confederate War Bonnett" won the gold medal as best historical/military fiction and best mid-western fiction in the 2009 Independent Publishers Awards...Shakely is of Muscogee/Creek descent and was chair of the Los Angeles Native American Indian Commission from 1992 to 1996. He has one son, Benton, and resides in Rancho Mirage, California. (Amazon.com)

Jack's third book, Che Guevara's Marijuana & Baseball Savings & Loan: A Novel of the Early Days of the Peace Corps, may be the best yet--but it's very hard to choose. Brilliant and witty writing combined with exceptional research give the reader a rare glimpse into the early days of the peace corps.

As one Amazon reviewer wrote: "A rollicking good story vividly told by a masterful raconteur. Captures the look and feel of the Peace Corps experience, the places (Oklahoma and Costa Rica)and the sixties in a story only slightly more colorful than life was at the time. Would not have picked up this book if I had not been a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica II, but I would have missed a great evocation of the adventure. Try it, you'll like it."

Jack was a highly regarded philanthropy leaders in the country. And when he retired, he created a second career as a writer and is equally successful. Don't miss this interview with author Jack Shakely to learn who he is and how he got there.
