We open with cast from Multi-Ethnic Theatre's production of August Wilson's Jitney, running through August 31 at the Gough Street Playhouse, 1620 Gough Street (near Bush), in San Francisco. From www.wehavemet.org: "Some of the most talented Bay Area actors are people with day jobs who work in theater for sheer passion and true meaning. Jitney, set in the 'early fall of 1977,' in the Hill District in Pitsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a play about working class men, who provide 'transportation service' to their communities. Then and now, city cabs did not venture into certain communities. This play allows MET actors to bring their real life experience to the stage. The cast is a close knit group passionately dedicated to stories about an important public service: gypsy cab rides to and from African American communities." Joining us are: BENNIE LEWIS as Becker, a well respected man who runs the Jitney Station; VERNON MEDEARIS as Turnbo, a jitney driver who is always interested in the business of others; CHARLES JOHNSON as Doub, a longtime jitney driver and Korean war veteran; CHARLES JOHNSON as Doub, a longtime jitney driver and Korean war veteran; TREVOR LAWRENCE as Fielding, a jitney driver and former tailor with a dependency on alcohol; STUART ELWYN HALL as Shealy, a numbers taker who often uses the jitney station as his base; ANTHONY PRIDE, as Philmore, a hotel doorman and recurring jitney passenger; DAVID STEWART, Becker's son, recently released from prison.
We close with a show from the archives (4/3/14) which features Joanna Haigood and cast members, Antoine Hunter and Travis Santell Rowland, speaking about Haigood's piece Dying While Black and Brown.

Tonight on The Gist of Freedom Join Historian Yul Anderson. He will explain the State of Black Studies and his statement below.
"Black Studies program throughout American have been taken over by others from the Diaspora community such that African American studies becomes Diaspora study programs. Leadership of Black/Afro-American studies programs have morphed and lost interest in the origination of such programs and have now been commingled with Latin American Study, Caribbean studies, Haitian Studies, to the point that there is no longer a distinctive core of Black or African American study programs in America. This has resulted in a tug of war of funding and resentment amongst African American Scholars who feel their distinctive turf has been invaded, as a result less funding for Black or African American studies programs exist.
The Global media, while seeing the Africans influence and power in American as a result of Presidents Obama's African Summit now place more emphasis on African images rather than African American images, the so called "New Black'. Traditional HBCU's while relatively less expensive than traditional main stream white liberal colleges have become much more favorable as the lack of qualified Black African American Scholars are not able to fill the teaching vacancies, as a result HBCU's become much more inviting to the diaspora communities which in turn morph HSBCU's into a more international college, taking on more international issues with substantive professors from the international community.
Dr Chaps reports on these important issues:
* Two scientific peer-reviewed studies of teenagers show that marijuana use destroys brain cells and causes permanent harm.
* Part 2 of a news-making interview with Larry Pratt - Executive Director of Gun Owners of America — on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
HATH GOD SAID" - Questions From The Marketplace - 10/21/14
TODAY'S QUESTIONS FROM THE MARKETPLACE OF IDEAS:
Are negative thoughts that's kept to yourself secrets that GOD will hold against you and judge you for but you don't pursue or commit the thought physically? Like your heart is with GOD but your fighting and battling your depraved mind, so if you died this way would it be held against you or will GOD just judge your heart?
"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain." —Titus 3:9 - Is God saying that we should give up on people? What is the issue here?
What happens to one who doesn't keep the ten commandments but believes in Christ?
Is it a sin to read the book of Mormon? Do you believe that some or any of them are Christians?
Jesus commanded baptism so if one doesn't believe it's necessary how does this scripture affect them?
Can you expound on Luke 19:27 - "But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me."
