What ETF Should I Buy? (with Pete the Planner)

    in Business

Pete Dunn, AKA Pete the Planner, joins Greg and Len today to talk about high rent payments, rigged company reports and gourmet dog food. How do you make ends meet when 30 percent of your money has to go to your landlord? How do you pick stocks when company CFOs admit they're "massaging" the numbers? How do you control your budget when your dog eats better food than you?

That's not all, though. We answer your letters about bad 401k plans and purchasing exchange traded funds AND review the new hit film Mission Impossible.

Thanks to MagnifyMoney and SoFi for sponsoring our show!

How Are Exchange Traded Funds Born? with Kris Monaco

    in Business

Kris Monaco from ISE ETF Ventures joins us....they're a firm that creates the indexes firms use to market brand new exchange traded funds (ETFs). How are they made? Does a client show up and ask for an index to copy? Does Kris and his team go find people to buy index ideas they have? We'll talk all things exchange traded funds on today's show.

Also, the Evil HR Lady, Suzanne Lucas, talks about why it might be a good idea to hire someone who's been fired from another job. It's an interesting segment that gives the other side of being fired (and as a guy who's been fired, I totally agree with her point!).

In our headlines, Joe & OG discuss a Time magazine article sent to us by listener Deanna called If You Want To Retire In The Next 5 Years Do These Things Now. Do we agree with the points? We tackle the last five years before retirement AND more news from target date funds on today's podcast.

    2015.04.03 The Bubba Show

    in Business

ARE SELLERS AMASSING TROOPS ON THE BORDER?

Bubba comments about the current market conditions. He maintains that the volume is falling and that the volatility is following. Bubba says that the sellers are gradually becoming the strong hands in the market. Rallies are met with selling and there is not as much upside volume on the rallies. He believes the sellers are getting ready to put capital into action when they spot an opening.

Bubba introduces Jane King. Jane comments on the success of the pop culture, and how she sees the younger generation being swayed by politicians that know who the pop culture icons are. She thinks the Republicans can learn from this phoneme. Bubba asks Jane her opinion on the crop report released earlier in the week. She comments that for farmers it was not very positive. Record Bean crop, Corn acreage down for the third straight year.

Bubba introduces Mike McGlone of ETF securities. Mike and Bubba discuss how the earnings reports keep getting discounted but the market continues to go higher. Mike comments on how many EFT indexes are seeing a net withdrawal this year and the possible impact that this could have on the markets for the rest of 2015. Mike explains some terms that are used in the ETF market such as beta which is a correlation study.

Mike comments on why he is not longer a trader and why he focuses on working with the market long term. He tells investors and traders that if they are trading a leveraged product that they must read the prospectus because it will tell them how the product is structured. Bubba and Mike discuss hedging and why most U.S corporations don’t use it. Mike concludes the interview commenting that product diversification is the best way for business to hedge.
