Have you ever noticed how some high-paid celebrities and athletes get free cars, designer clothes and shoes while working class people struggle to purchase those items? Well, that’s very similar to the treatment of people with good credit compared to people with bad credit.People with a good credit rating are offered credit cards and store cards with 0% interest to payback and home and car loans with 3% interest rates, resulting in thousands of dollars saved. Meanwhile, people with poor credit are either turned down for loans or charged the highest interest rates, forcing them to pay double what a purchase is worth. Even if a person makes a high salary and has money saved, he or she can still be turned down or required to put down a large down payment and be charged an exurbant interest rate because of a poor or fair credit rating while someone with a low income and an excellent credit score can be approved for a low interest rate with no money down.

Your credit rating or FICO (Fair Isaac Corporation) credit score is determined by the three credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian and Transunion. Your score can range from 250 to above 900. Creditors consider any score below 640 to be fair and anything lower than 600 to be poor. Good credit is the mid-600s to low 700s while excellent credit is mid-700s and above.

People with poor credit usually have frequent late payments to their current creditors and closed/charged off accounts that have been transferred to collection agencies.

HR Happy Hour 179 - Data Driven HR (Live from Equifax Workforce Solutions Forum 2014)

    Recorded Tuesday, April 1, 2014

    Hosts: Steve Boese, Trish McFarlane

Guests: Dann Adams, President, Equifax Workforce Solutions and Mike Psenka, Senior Vice President Workforce Analytics, Equifax Workforce Solutions

Last week Steve and Trish were able to attend Equifax Workforce Solutions Annual User Conference in Scottsdale, AZ and sit down with Dann Adams and Mike Psenka to talk about some of the ways that more advanced capability and increased availability of data and analytics are changing the way HR gets done, and increasing the opportunities for HR to contribute significant business value.

Data is increasingly the 'must have' resource for HR leaders. It can allow the leveraging of that data and the related insights on pay, turnover, and job movement from a wide swath of industries and millions of data points in order to give organizations a better understanding of how their workforce trends stack up to their peers. It also means using data and decision support tools to ensure the organization is making the right decisions and remaining compliant with complex ACA requirements.

On the show, Dann and Mike share a few examples and offer some insights as to how HR organizations can get the most value from these data driven approaches.

This was a fun and informative show and I would like to thank Dann, Mike, and everyone at Equifax Workforce Solutions for allowing the HR Happy Hour Show to be a part of Forum 2014.

SwCA Episode 022: Credit score, who cares?! You should...here's why. (1 of 2)

    in Business

    SITE: http://www.courtneyanderson.com/swca-episode-022-financial-fierceness-series-credit-score-who-cares-you-shouldheres-why---part-1-of-2.html

SHOW NOTES: This episode is part of our FINANCIAL FIERCENESS!™ series! This series integrates our financial goals into our development plan for surpassing our goals. We deal with the specific issues we need to explore in order to achieve (and surpass) our financial goals. In this episode we are examining the issue of, “Credit score, who cares?!” This is Part 1 of a 2 part series.

The credit score is fascinating. We are addressing consumer credit scores in this episode but there are also credit scores (or ratings) for businesses and nations. In general, your consumer credit score is a product that is sold by three major private companies in the USA (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian), to entities about you. The fact that it is sold only because it is about you is the really unique and interesting aspect of the situation. Literally, this is one time in life when it is “all about you!” The situation is that entities want to know if they should loan you money. If you never borrow money (or property), you do not have any interaction with a credit score and this is not the episode for you to listen to! Remember that if you rent an apartment, car, etc., that is considered a financial risk so the credit score will be used.

This Part 1 of a 2 part episode focuses on an overview of what the credit score is, how it came into existence in modern times and how it impacts your financial life!
