"Helping to provide clean water for children in Nigeria"

"Helping to provide clean water for children in Nigeria"

Luke Pyytic, Temecula Valley New Generations Rotary President-Elect International

The most recent project that I have been working on is a water well and storage tank at a primary school in Onitsha, Nigeria. The school currently hosts over 500 children on a daily basis. Before now the only source of water was from a unreliable water truck delivering unfiltered water from the River Niger. My Rotary Club and I performed fundraisers, as well as campaigning through other Clubs in our district to raise over $10,000 to perform the project. This well will not only provide clean water to the children, but to the surrounding community.

Luke Pytlik is a member of the Temecula Valley New Generations Rotary Club. He currently serves as the President Elect as well as the International Director. He is a Paul Harris Fellow, and is to be the President of his club in the 2015-2016 Rotary year.

Water For The Thirsty - Episode 16

Several people had the same questions this week as we were coming to the end of both Deuteronomy and Matthew that caused us to take another look at what we thought we knew about God. We're bringing them to the cast tonight to see if we can get further inisght that may help bring resolution to those questions.

Create In Me A Clean Heart

    in Christianity

Psalm 51:9-11 says Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. 10Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.…And its a verse of scripture I should pray each day God allows me to rise from my sleep. To both start and end the day with acknowledging to the Lord we constantly and daily need to be purified of our hearts and minds. What does it take for God to clean our hearts? What must we come to an understanding of? First, we must confess we can not clean our hearts through human effort. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to have access to all of our hearts and navigate to those areas we don't want to reveal. Confessing our sin and short comings afterall is no fun. But it does lift a very heavy burden and weight we could not carry ourselves. For without a clean heart how can we worship the Lord in spirit and in truth, how can we love others in purity, love and respect, as well as having right attitudes. If left unchecked, we can miss out on Gods very best for us when we don't allow him to continue what he started....a potential masterpiece when we allow him free reign to create in us a clean heart which frees us from the bondage of sin.

Be a Tree Planted by the Water

    in Christianity

Elder Ted Colbert will kick off today's show with a discussion on how you can be as the tree planted firmly by the water in Psalm 1. What does that mean, and how is that a benefit for you? Then the rest of the team will jump in to explore grace versus the law, show examples of how pastors are incorrectly mixing the two and what Jesus' death really means for us. Want to learn more? Head over to the blog to read more from Will, Sage and the rest of the Truth About Church team: http://www.thetruthaboutchurch.com.

Curtis Harwell Discusses Why Water Is So Important

    in Fitness

Water needs to be considered an essential nutrient. Because of easy access we take water for granted and do not realize the importance of proper hydration. According to experts, water is ranked second only to oxygen as essential for life. Your overall body weight is 2/3 water. A person can survive about two months without food, but only a few days without water.

Water is the most abundant ingredient in the human body through all phases of growth and development. Every system in your body depends on water to function.

Water is essential to your body’s temperature regulation, keeping it cool through perspiration.
Water flushes out toxins and wastes.
Water is a major component of blood which carries nutrients and oxygen to and from all cells.
Water provides a moist environment for all body tissues. It is the major component of saliva and mucous which lubricates the membranes that line our digestive system beginning with the mouth. Mucous membranes in the nose and eyes function better when well hydrated.
Water cushions joints and protects tissues and organs like the brain from shock and damage.
Water helps maintain a healthy weight. It is hard to distinguish between hunger and thirst. If you feel hungry, drink some water first and then reassess your hunger status.
