Guest: Alan Fox, author of People Tools for Love and Relationships

    in Relationships

Alan C. Fox has inspired thousands of readers with the invaluable advice and engaging stories in his two bestselling books People Tools and People Tools for Business.  Now he is back with the ultimate guide to a better life: People Tools for Love and Relationships: The Journey from Me to Us.

Each chapter of the book illustrates a different “People Tool” using insightful stories and amusing anecdotes from Alan’s life. From learning how to talk about money with your partner, how and when to apologize, to increasing trust and intimacy, each tool addresses a specific relationship issue and provides a simple, straightforward approach that you can adopt to create a positive result.
Some of the useful People Tools in the book include:
How to be the right person. To build a successful life partnership, it’s more important to learn to be the right person than it is to find the right person.
The Best Defense is No Defense. While having a strong defense is helpful on the battlefield, being defensive in your relationships can cause serious problems.
With All Faults. No one is perfect. In any relationship it is important to accept your partner as they are, including their faults.
Catch Them Being Better. Rather than criticizing your partner for the qualities you might not like, try complimenting them for what you appreciate.

These easy-to-use tools will help you form deeper connections and grow closer to the people in your life.

Entrepreneur, philanthropist, mentor and relationship expert Alan C. Fox has graduate degrees in counseling, law, and professional writing. To learn more about Alan and People Tools, visit www.peopletoolsbook.com.

  • The Lost Art of Listening

    in Christianity

How would you rate yourself as a listener in conversations about faith? Often times Christians can be arrogant and lack compassion when engaging others in apologetic conversations. However, 1 Peter 3:15 tells us to defend our faith with "gentleness and respect," and in our hearts "to honor Christ the Lord as holy." Tonight, Brandon and Jared talk about how and why Christians should approach these conversations with humility and kindess.

  • Show #123: Employee Engagement for the Individual and Team - Which Comes First?

    in Business

Special Guest: Jamie Lawrence, Editor, HRZone.com

Effective engagement requires both an individual and collective focus but it seems that many companies focus on engaging the individual rather than thinking about the collective units – teams. The basic unit at work is the team, with a line manager at the helm, and there’s an argument that human beings as social creatures require high levels of engagement with their social working environment as a pre-requisite to individual engagement. Is it a chicken or egg scenario? Should companies be focusing on both from different, or similar, angles? Either way, as more research looks at group effectiveness and inclusiveness at work, there’s doubt we need to focus more on engaging the collective as well as the individual.

Jamie Lawrence is editor of global online HR publication and community HRZone.com He regularly speaks to audiences of 250+ and has interviewed key HR industry names, including Daniel H. Pink. Jamie has worked previously as a small business journalist and a copywriter and has published non-fiction that reached #2 in the NYT Children’s Bestseller List. Jamie is committed to driving forward the HR agenda through HRZone.com and making sure that HR Directors have the knowledge and insight necessary to ensure HR has influence across the whole organisation.

Guest: Sadie Robertson - Live Original & Bible Study in Romans 10

    in Christianity

Sadie Robertson is well known for her dimples and engaging smile, but there is more to the 17-year-old charmer and star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty than that. A high school athlete and motivational speaker, Sadie spends her summers on mission trips and working at a Christian youth camp spreading her message to peers about being confident in who you are and learning to “live original.”

Sadie also embodies the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of the Robertson family and has carried her philosophy into multiple business ventures, collaborating with fashion designer Sherri Hill on her own “daddy-approved” prom dress line, Live Original, (she even walked in Hill’s show for New York Fashion Week in 2013) and developing her own Live Original line of school supplies for DaySpring. Sadie’s new book, Live Original: How the Duck Commander Teen Keeps It Real and Stays True to Her Values, is available now at retailers nationwide.

In 2014, Sadie competed on Season 19 of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars and achieved 2nd place with her professional dance partner Mark Ballas. The pair became known as Team Quack Attack, and even dedicated a performance to her family’s well known passion for duck-hunting .
