The Interpersonal Connection ~ A Tribute To Mr. Jeremy Stevens ~

    in Spirituality

Encouraging and Inspirational Words of Wisdom, Spirit and Life. 1980 ~ 2015 Jeremy Stevens is being remembered as hard working, kind-hearted person. A dedicated fixture at Carver Recreation Center in Johnson City, TN. Jeremy Stevens was also a familiar face around Science Hill High School, where he was the manager for the basketball team under former coach Mike Poe. But because Stevens’ job at Carver Rec was only part-time, he had picked up another position at Daniel Boone High School and he always made time to stop and say hello. “He wouldn’t just throw his hand up and keep walking, he would have conversation with you. He was full of life, and he had a huge heart,” said Good. Athletic Director at Daniel Boone, Danny Good is not the only one who was touched by Stevens kindness. Varsity basketball coach Chris Brown says his positive attitude had a big impact on his players. “He cared for our players he really did he was concerned how they were doing on the court, off the court, sincerely wanted to see them perform well,” said Brown. Even his family knew just how deeply he cared for those at Daniel Boone.

Youth Ministers Day on the Voice of Joy

    in Spirituality

Youth Ministers are being called out to reach out and be used by God.  Our youth can reach youth and be the example we must set before them.  Let them preach, sing, teach, reach and pray.  Let them lead.  This is not a Josusah generation this is a child you have trained up in the way he and she should go and grow and glow for Jesus. so that when they are old they will not depart from such training.  Are you going to listen to support and encourage our youth of today and write the vision they are making plain in their lives or will you keep having church as always.  Listen to this broadcast and you will change your old ways and sanction the new.  Youth are you out there with a song, a word of praise an educational goal a turned around life?.  Well let's get the broadcast on the Voice of Joy and let's just praise the Lord for our youth.

    The Interpersonal Connection ~ HAPPY FATHER'S DAY~ Part 3

    in Dads and Family

Encouraging and Inspirational Words of Wisdom, Spirit and Life. "Father’s Honored & Father’s Remembered" Quoting the Honorable City Councilwoman from Jacksonville, Florida Glorious Johnson (R), “the church and the community must work together to address our crisis of death and destruction”. Many have prayed for change, but what contributions besides prayer have they offered. In St. Matthew 6:5 it states, ”and when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily, I say unto you, they have their reward”. What reward will we all receive in the years to come if we remain divided and hypocrites in the Word of God. We fathers have a guide, we have a word of truth and power, all we need to do is follow it. St. Luke 2:49, “we all must be about our fathers business,” united in a common cause to save our children and not allow another possible generation to be lost. Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington State, first proposed the idea of a "Father's Day" in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart, a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife (Mrs. Dodd's mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington State. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.  In 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day.

    The Interpersonal Connection ~ Father's ~ Part 2

    in Dads and Family

Encouraging and Inspirational Words of Wisdom, Spirit and Life. Let's Talk About It, Then Pray About It. We as fathers desire our children to live long and fruitful lives just as our heavenly father means for us to, but that requires good teaching and modeling. Proverbs 4:10 states, “Hear, O my son and receive my sayings: and the years of thy life shall be many”. What true father would not want their children to have a long and happy life, but there needs to be consistent commitment from the father to the son. The lack of this commitment is seen today as our young sons are dying needlessly. Understanding thy place in the order and scheme of a family strengthens the family unit and binds the structure of individuals into a unit that is strong, and thus strengthens neighborhoods and communities.

Suggestions for men.....1. As children grow they become less dependent on us and start to make decisions for themselves, but we as men/fathers must stay active as models and advisors. Often just listening and being patient. 2. During adolescence there is a minimal tendency to ask parents for their opinions, it is important to ask questions and openly communicate not criticize. Men are prone to be impatient, but we should learn to wait and guide our talks not force them. 3. Be direct with your decisions and be Fair, a “No” means “No”. You send conflicting signals when you change your mind and don’t backup your words.
