Facing the Challenges of the Generation Mix has created more complexities in the workplace. Social, cultural and political factors are shaping individual values and work ethic. Successful leaders are coming to understand these influences and determine ways to best manage and develop a multigenerational workforce that have different values, learning styles and expectations.
Just consider technology as one of the biggest dividers. According to a Pew survey, while three-quarters of adults age 18 to 30 say they use the Internet daily. The older Gen X goes online to accomplish a task and then walks away from the computer. Gen Y goes online and offline seamlessly and does not make a distinction between one and the other” (Behrstock- Sherratee & Coggshall, 2010). For adults younger than age 30, 72% use their cell phones for most or all of their calls while 87% text.” This can become a challenge when younger generations use text messages to call in sick or report a problem.

Listener dial-in number: (646) 595-3602 This week we are continuing our emotional detox exploration as 1 of 3 spring essentials or rituals that I believe should be incorporated into your life wellness toolbox. I think they can be done anytime you feel a need for them but I recommend them quarterly. The first is a physical detox covered in previus shows.Despite the fact that our body has an excellent detoxification system, the standard American diet, or what Dr. Mark Furman calls the SAD diet often could use some re-figuration and a kick in the butt for us to feel us best now. The second spring essential or ritual I recommend is an emotional detox. Part 2 in this series is offered today. I detox emotionally on a daily basis but still at times have a need for a more rigorous process. This is a great time to assess your overall happiness meter. The third spring essential or ritual is to reflect on and refine your strategic life plan. On this show we talk about the roots that drive our emotions in order to allow God to gain control over them in any situation we might find ourselves. It has been said that most people who are codependent struggle with emotional problems. This is probably because as humans when we believe something, we think on that something and even begin feel that very thing.
As we move closer and closer to believing the truth, God will begin to stabilize our emotions and our reasons behind them.

Author John Stover was not only a man on a mission, he was a man in a mission. His “Love Rescue Me” trilogy, a series of quasi-autobiographical adventure novels, was written two hours at a time on Los Angeles Central Library computers while living out of downtown’s Midnight Mission.
The novels are the culmination of three decades of a rollercoaster life that has seen success in the clothing industry fade to homelessness due to alcoholism, drug abuse, and an accident rendering him briefly paralyzed from a broken neck.
The former Marina del Rey resident reads from his “Love Rescue Me” series on Thursday, April 10, at Book Soup in West Hollywood.

Join us today as we discuss the topic of Emotional Balance and Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is the ability and desire to consciously and deliberately take in the essence of the words being formed in your mind. It is the willingness to understand the intention behind the words being formed, and the choice to change unhealthy thinking when required.
Feelings allow us to express ourselves in ways that our brains cannot understand. The ability to think with your head and feel with your heart is truly a measure of balance. Once we can feel with our heart, think from our head, and understand the difference, we will gain better control over the thoughts we choose to think.
With control and mindfulness, we can learn how to open our hearts when the need to express emotions arises, and think with our heads when appropriate and know the difference.
