Getting the gift of Farsighted with Emlyn Chand

    in Books

From an early age, Emlyn Chand has counted books among her best friends. She loves to hear and tell stories and emerged from the womb with a fountain pen grasped firmly in her left hand (true story). Her affinity for the written word extends to absolutely every area of her life: she has written two-and-a-half novels, leads a classics book group with over three hundred members, and, of course, runs the whole shebang at Novel Publicity.
The book that changed Emlyn’s life is Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crocket Johnson. It opened her eyes to the world that could exist if only she was willing to create it—a lesson she has never forgotten. While she enjoys all types of novels, her greatest loves are literary fiction and YA. Farsighted is her first novel.

  • Gurutej Singh talks about the Baba Siri Chand Mantra for Protection

    in Music

In the early days of Kundalini Yoga practice, we were taught to chant the mantra Alak Baba Siri Chand de Rakh (only once per day) in times where we felt psychically attacked.  We know to be careful about this.  This mantra calls upon the assistance of Baba Siri Chand, who is known to have been the protector of the Sikhs and was one of the sons of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru.  Gurutej Singh, as an early student of Yogi Bhajan’s, has great knowledge of this chant.  He and I will discuss his knowledge and experience of this practice as well as share about some different variations and uses of this mantra.

BIO: Gurutej Singh Khalsa is a yogi, warrior, entrepreneur, poet, healer, and teacher. He was a personal aide and bodyguard to Yogi Bhajan and traveled the world with him in that capacity. Gurutej is also the Founder of Akal Security, Inc., which was the largest privately held security services contractor in the United States as well as the largest single provider of protective services to the Federal government of the United States. Having learned directly from Yogi Bhajan, Gurutej is an international teacher of Kundalini Yoga and meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan, as well as the warrior fitness training that he learned from Yogiji. Gurutej is the author of two books: Children of the Cusp, a collection of poetry about his experiences as a student of Yogi Bhajan; and Rajni, an historical spiritual novel about the powers of love, sacrifice, and transformation. Rajni was awarded the Gold Seal of Literary Excellence. Gurutej has been listed on the Sikh 100; number 24 among the one-hundred most influential Sikhs in the world. He lives in Singapore with his wife and son.
