FILM: Meet NYIFF, the NY Indian Film Festival

    in Movies

SAJA, the South Asian Journalists Association, and SAMMA, the South Asians in Media, Marketing & Entertainment, present the latest in their series of high-profile webcasts - via BlogTalkRadio.com - with leading names in global media, arts, entertainment, politics and much more...

Join us for a show with New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) filmmakers Shonali Bose (Margarita, With a Straw) and Vibha Bakshi (Daughters of Mother India) and actor Kalki Koechlin.

The festival’s opening night film this year is Bose’s “Margarita, With a Straw.” The film is a poignant portrayal of a rebellious young woman with cerebral palsy, played by Kalki Koechlin, who leaves her home in India to study in New York, unexpectedly falls in love and embarks on an exhilarating journey of self-discovery.

Bakshi’s “Daughters of Mother India” is this year’s National Award winner for Best Film on Social Issues under the Non-Narrative category. The documentary focuses on the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi rape incident and India’s ban on the broadcast of the documentary “India’s Daughter” by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin.

The show will feature candid conversations around topics such as the prevalence of women filmmakers today and the role films can play in raising awareness for mental health and women’s safety issues in India.

Hosting the show is SAJA board member Divya Singaravelu.

Wealth Creation & Preservation: Jordan Belfort - "The Real Wolf Of Wall Street"

    in Education

Today's broadcast will the be airing of a presentation to the Virgin Atlantic Airlines team of staff and employees in Australia by "The Real Wolf Of Wall Street", Jordan Belfort.

He is the actual person that the Leonardi Dicaprio character was depicting in the movie.  He is a very compelling speaker and his story is very illuminating about what brings both success and happinees and depression and failure.  Of course, we air a piece because of how well it illustrates that others (non-Muslims) succeed by applying (unbeknowst to them) Islamic principles, standards and values. Our aim is to encourage Muslims to deepen their conviction to their beliefs and put them to work to create and preserve wealth.

WARNING; There is some profanity in his address but honestly nothing that we haven't heard before. It's not our language but he's not a Muslim either.

Mark Basham was born in Monterey California in 1960. He lived with loving parents and three brothers in a conservative family. Mark began having non-ordinary experiences at two and a half years of age. These experiences began a heart-centered interactive relationship with non-physical realms. Mark is an artist, musician, and carpenter. He currently lives in Washington State with his wife of twenty-seven years where they raised three children. He has chosen to share these experiences now because of the tremendous opportunities and challenges present as we transition from the myth of our dominance over a fractured materialistic world into a new relationship with our deeper essence as part of an interdependent web of consciousness expressing in ever-changing form.
