Guest Appearances by Elliott Katz and Jade Heasley

    in Books

Elliott Katz is a professional speechwriter in Toronto and the author of seven nonfiction books and has done many radio and televison interviews. Audiences find him informative and lively. He teaches the principles in his book, Being the Strong Man A Woman Wants, to men and women, and speaks at seminars and conferences.

Jade Heasley is an author and speaker who keeps readers and listeners laughing about her true tales of her happy childhood during the magical time known as the 1980s, and challenging them to chase their dreams and think outside the box.

During her childhood, she developed a love of books and from early on began dreaming of seeing her name in print. Although she assumed that becoming an author was unlikely, she couldn’t let go of the idea and chased her dream. Her humorous memoir, 1980s Kidwas published in 2008, followed by her first novel, Bratty Becky and the Firecracker Kidin 2009.

In 2010, she debuted her novella entitled The Incorrigible Dreamers, her first book that wasn’t a humorous story. Audiences were intrigued by the book’s unusual premise, and it resulted in radio interviews on both internet and traditional broadcast radio shows from Connecticut to California.

Heasley’s fourth book, How to Rule the World is a novel mixing her humorous style and some serious themes to tell the story of a college student whose summer break turns into an unexpected journey of pursuing dreams and ambitions, and disillusionment.

Some time between her birth in Pennsylvania and the publication of 1980s Kid, Heasley earned degrees from Valley Forge Christian College and Lock Haven University.

David Katz: Solving Our Plastic Pollution Problem & Poverty

    in Environment

The future may indeed be in plastics.  David Katz is the founder and CEO of The Plastic Bank, an ambitious social enterprise that aims to solve the plastic pollution problem and poverty at the same time.

The Plastic Bank provides an opportunity for the world’s poor to collect and trade plastic waste as a currency. That's right.  Plastic waste found at beaches and other waterways is turned into a source of income for our world's most marginalized citizens.  What's more, plastic collectors can get access to 3D printers creating entrepreneurial opportunities.

Today David Katz, who is the President of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (E.O.) Vancouver Chapter and recent winner of the organization's Global Citizen Award, will share his inspiration for reducing global poverty and stopping plastic from entering our oceans.
