Local Bakery Grabs Some National Attention from Shoppers with a Sweet Tooth

    in Entrepreneur

After 25 years in the radio/tv news business, Bob Benish decided to launch his next role, a part he was born to play, as the owner and bakery chef of Benish's Bakery.  What started as a specialty bakery in 2007 selling biscotti to specialty shops has turned into an expanded line of baked goods with a national following.  Shoppers who stop for coffee at Nordstroms across the country can now nibble on some of the bakery's goodies.

Bob's love of baking goes back to his childhood and his business launched to satisfy a personal need...he wanted a biscotti aimed squarely at the grownup palate, a biscotti you can, "dunk with confidence and nibble with delight!"

    Oklahoma State Senator Joseph Silk

    in Politics Conservative

Oklahoma State Senator Joseph Silk has introduced a bill that would allow religious entities or businesses “operating consistently with sincerely held religious beliefs” to operate in accordance with those beliefs without facing legal consequences for doing so. In other words, if you are a wedding photographer or a bakery and you do not wish to provide your services for a same-sex wedding, based on religious objections, then there would be no legal consequences for refusing that business. Senator Silk has been facing a firestorm from LGBT activist since he gave an interview to the New York Times about the bill. The harsh push back has come as a result of the Times story taking a partial quote where he said that LGBT people “don’t have a right to be served in every single store,” He has responded to the Times quotes by posting a statement saying “Yes I did say that homosexuals do not have the right to be served in every store, just as I do not believe that I, my family, or anyone else have the right to be served in every private business. The right to provide services should be the decision of the business owners. We need to keep our country free and stop this radical, intolerant, movement.” We'll talk about the bill and the controversy.

Later we'll talk about some of the big stories from the past week. Don't forget about "Outrage of the Week" and "Headlines You May Have Missed".

    What is spiritual Adultery? Idolatry..

    in Politics Conservative

Why do Christians settle for mixture in the church and life? What are Christians afraid of?

Temptations: Christians were tempted to engage in various vices that were a part of their lives before they became Christians (idolatry, sexual immorality, covetousness, etc.).

Persecutions: Christians were persecuted by the governing powers of the day for their allegiance to Christ. Many Christians were threatened with certain death if they would not deny Christ.

Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen... For the customs of the people are vain:” (Jer. 10:2,3). “Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them [the heathen]... and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God:” (Deut. 12:30,31)

    Injected into the Church:

You have supposed it is part of the true Christian religion to observe Lent, "Holy Week," "Good Friday," to buy hot cross buns at the bakery, to have colored eggs, to dress up and go to Church Easter Sunday, perhaps to attend an Easter sunrise service!  Really what dose Easter hunt and Jesus have in common you have to find them...? I never realize that My Lord was lost..

Because of the "sheep" instinct in humans, most of us believe a lot of things that are not true. Most of us do a lot of things that are wrong, supposing these things be right, or even sacred!

Spiritual adultery was not only a problem in the Old Testament; it is an ongoing problem in the New Testament as well. In the Old Testament the children of Israel habitually transgressed against God's laws by taking up the ways of the heathen nations around them and by borrowing their abominable customs.

    Round Rock Texas adventures

    in Podcasting

Has I get ready to leave Round Rock Texas, I just share a few thoughts about the adventures I had here.  We spent Christmas day with my son and his family. Having a grandson with special needs make life a bit more challenging but still does not lessen my love him.

Christmas is so much more special when children are there.

The day after Christmas My son and I took the Boys over to Austin to Harbor Freight and Fry’s to run some errands. Then I took one of my Grandsons over to Piranha records trying to find some Willie Nelson music for a future show. Normally they carrying everything but today was not one of them.  Shopping with my Grandson makes me a proud Grandpa

Saturday Morning my wife went to visit some of our favorite haunts The Book Spot, Half Price Books, because both were having sales and of course we had to go

Saturday  afternoon my son  and took the boys out one a mini-history  trip around Round Rock, First we went out to the White –Lime  Mc Neil Post office because Richard had never been there

While we there a train passed by which gave Brandon a big thrill, From there we actually found the Round Rock in Rock Texas, and then onto the Round Rock Memorial Park because they have a WWII torpedo one display to honor all the Submarines lost in that war, of course this leads me to this question “Why a Torpedo in Central Texas honoring lost submarines”?  Perhaps a research question for another show

We also got a picture of the Christmas Ornament at the Water Tower

Every time we come out to Texas we always have a new set of adventures highlighted by the time we get to spend Richard, Sara, Brandon and Ryan

I would be Remiss if I did not mention this  but Sara made homemade Cinnamon rolls that out do anyone or any chains, or independent bakery  they are the simply the best
