Is the Workplace 'Black America' Friendly?

    in Lifestyle

June : Employment and Blacks in the Workplace

According to the Washington Post since the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) started reporting unemployment by race over 42 years ago, blacks have always been unemployed at a higher rate than whites.  According to the August 2014 BLS unemployment number, blacks had an unemployment rate of 11.4% which is twice that of whites (5.3%).

According to Diversity Inc. There are six Black CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, accounting for 1.2% of all Fortune 500 CEOs.

June is focused on employment as well as diversity in the workplace. It is well known that diversity is lacking at the top of many of the companies we support. We are not asking for positions, we are saying where are the mentors who are already there and how can we craft more leaders? Many of us have experienced working twice as hard to still be in the same position and know the feeling of training folks who then become our boss. It is not okay that a company has 30% of its employees who are minorities and less than 10% in upper management. We have to call diversity in the workplace to carpet and challenge companies to do better.   Employment also means lowering the unemployment rate, by ensuring that individuals in our neighborhoods know how to fill out an application, have interview skills, and know the simple basics of searching for a job. These are simple steps we all can take.

Elijah and the False Prophets BBC6-17-15

    in Christianity

Elijah and the False Prophets BBC6-17-15

In today's OT scripture, Elijah spoke and the rain stopped for 3 years which caused a severe famine in the land. In the third year, God told Elijah and told him to tell the king God will restore the rain. He told the king the rain stopped because of the king and people worshiping idols. Elijah made a test between the idol's prophets and God's prophet. He told them to make an altar and ask the idol's prophets to call upon their god to burn their sacrifice. However, no matter what they did, their sacrifice was not consumed. Then Elijah made an altar to God and placed his sacrifice and God sent a fire from heaven and consumed His sacrifice. FRIENDS, NO OTHER GOD CAN STAND BEFORE GOD BECAUSE THERE IS NO OTHER GOD IN HEAVEN OR IN THE EARTH OR BENEATH THE EARTH!

    Elijah hears GODS Voice BBC6-18-15

    in Christianity

    BIBLEBOOKCLUB: OT: 1 Kings 19:1-21, NT: Acts 12:1-23, Psalm:136:1-26, Proverbs: 17:14-15

In today's OT scripture, God told Elijah was complaining to God about how he was being persecuted and how he was the only one who was serving God. God told him to go and stand before him on the mountain. As Elijah stood there, God passed by him and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain but God was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but God was in the earthquake. Then there was a fire, but God was not in the fire. And after the fire, there was the sound of a gentle whisper. FRIENDS, THAT WAS GOD! GOD SPEAKS THROUGH THE SMALL STILL VOICE. YOU HAVE TO GET QUIET TO HEAR FROM GOD! BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD, SAYS THE LORD! HEAR HIM TODAY!
