Sheree Evans published her book, “By the Grace of God, A Promise Kept” on Valentine's Day, 2015. The book details and documents her fight for her VA Widow's Benefits, after the death of her husband.
Sheree's husband, Edward “Tommy” Evans, a former Marine from the Viet Nam era, died from brain cancer linked to his exposure to Agent Orange during that war. Her book documents not only his death from Agent Orange, but the subsequent battle she waged and won to gain her widow's benefits, and to establish what the VA already knew: Agent Orange could cause brain cancers in the soldiers who were exposed to it.
Please join us as Sheree tells of her battle to gain her benefits, fianlly winning in court and the subsequent writing of her book.

Jeff Singer of Daily Kos Elections joins to discuss politics in the Louisiana
In January 2011 the Veterans Administration issued a directive stating that patients in pain control treatment who are participating in state marijuana programs “must not be denied VHA services.” Despite this, numerous complaints have come from vets being denied their pain medicines and other VA services because they find benefit to using marijuana medicinally.
The guests on the Monday, February 16 at 6 p.m. show have been working with government administrators and elected officials to insure that veterans are not denied VA benefits because they chose to use marijuana medicinally.
Michael Karwitz, Executive Director of Veterans for Medical Cannabis, is a disabled veteran who has benefited greatly from medicinal cannabis. He has worked with national and international organizations furthering the use of medicinal marijuana. Having met personally with many VA administrators, it was his efforts that led to the issuance of the directive protecting veterans from being denied VA benefits if they use marijuana.
Marcus Boyd is the Vice Chair of the San Diego Chapter of Americans for Safe Access. He has been denied his pain medication by the San Diego VA because of his use of cannabis and has called for action to protest his and other vets’ denial of services. Mr. Boyd also obtained a bit of notoriety when his grow was raided by a DEA agent wearing a shirt proclaiming "Fuck the growers...Marijuana is still illegal."
Ellen Komp, Deputy Director of CaNORML is a long-time activist working on both medical marijuana and legalization issues. She has been working with elected officials on the federal and state level to address vets using medical marijuana being denied VA benefits and has been involved in organizing veterans to protect to their rights to VA and cannabis benefits.
Tonights episode discussing VA chief backs outside medical care as new program falters. I will play a couple cool tunes and I hope you call in and can support Disabled Veteran Radio by logging into billapgar.com. We will continue discussion on PTSD and try to tickle your funy bone. So Climb on Board for the ride

Let's talk, the subject is up to you. But there is plenty to talk about, we have the Shirley/Bagye Presidential Race to consider. If these two candidates are in the final election, how many people will turn out?
If the election is postponed will the Naqvajo voters have a better opportunity to study each candidate this time around? Thereby giving them more right to exercise their voter's rights?
And we have invited the new Council Delegates to join us so we can get to know them. Please notify your council Delegate to call in.
And open mic this evening, you call in and I'll get on-air so you can share your opinions, recommendations, opinions, etc.
See you. Aheehe. #politicsonthenavajonation
