SORT BY Relevancy
Charles Eisenstein is a speaker and writer focusing on themes of human culture and identity. The author of several books, most recently Sacred Economics and The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible, Eisenstein presents a vision that is original yet common sense, radical yet gentle, and increasingly relevant as the crises of our civilization deepen.
Charles asks what can we as individuals can do to make the world a better place? He explores what may happen if we were to replace the cynicism, frustration, paralysis, and overwhelm so many of us are feeling, with a grounding reminder of what’s true: we are all connected, and our small, personal choices bear unsuspected transformational power. By fully embracing and practicing this principle of interconnectedness—called interbeing—we become more effective agents of change and have a stronger positive influence on the world.
Throughout his work, Charles interweaves deep curiosity, a philosophical perspective, and real-life stories to research the history of money from ancient gift economies to modern capitalism; revealing how small, individual acts of courage, kindness, and self-trust can change our culture’s guiding narrative of separation. He brings to conscious awareness a deep wisdom we all innately know, presenting a real solution to the present planetary crisis. Above all, Eisenstein invites us to embrace a radically different understanding of cause and effect, so that we can finally create the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.

My talk with Charles Eisenstein, prolific author and speaker. We discuss the developement of a great change in our societies, ourselves, and our world. Charles helps us understand the transition and transformation taking place on the planet, and what we and our planet are going through. We talk about some of our conditioned, behavioural traits which hold us back as humanity, highlighting some of the opportunities to see, feel, transform, and escape them. We talk about how we are all so intimately connected, which is scientifically proved now, and the urgency for us to change ourselves in order to change the world around us. Charles talks about reconnecting to love and the joy of sharing, and we look at some of the symptoms of our problems.
ENVISION THIS: By embracing our interconnectedness with all being on earth, we can change the world.
Charles Eisenstein is one of the seminal and pioneering storytellers of the new world. He explains how “fully embracing and practicing the principle of interconnectedness” will help us transcend our planetary crisis and have a positive influence on the world.. His latest book, The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know Is Possible, serves as an empowering antidote to the cynicism, frustration, paralysis, and overwhelm so many of us are feeling. Charles reminds us that we are all connected, and our small, personal choices bear unsuspected transformational power.
Charles reveals how our culture’s guiding narrative of separation has generated our current crises. He shows us how we can change that narrative by telling the real-life stories of courage, kindness, and self-trust. He brings to conscious awareness a deep wisdom we all innately know: “Until we get selves in order, any action we take—no matter how good our intentions—will ultimately be wrongheaded and wronghearted.”
Joanna Macy, author of Active Hope says that he offers us “a rich feast for mind and heart.” Vicki Robin, author of Your Money or Your Life says, “He isn’t just describing a possible world. He is helping us find our way to it.” We are deeply honored to have this visionary guest with us to discuss how we can become more effective agents of change and have a stronger positive influence on the world.
PS: We have a copy of the book for the first person to call in during this live episode(646-652-2235).

Sacred Economics: Money, Gifts, and Society in the Age of Transition with Charles Eisenstein
In his book, Sacred Economics: Money, Gift, and Society in the Age of Transition, Eisenstein traces the history of money from ancient gift economies to modern capitalism, revealing how the money system has contributed to alienation, competition, and scarcity, destroyed community, and necessitated endless growth. Today, these trends have reached their extreme, but in the wake of their collapse, Eisenstein says, we may find great opportunity to transition to a more connected, ecological, and sustainable way of being.
In this episode, Sandie and Charles Eisenstein discuss:
*The history and corruption of “money”
*How our money system will have to change—and is already changing—to embody this transition.
*The New Economics—negative-interest currencies, local currencies, resource-based economics, gift economies, and the restoration of the commons
*How those concerned with “right livelihood” can live according to their ideals in a world seemingly ruled by money
*What you can do to help create a new vision for a new future and make the world a better place

It is the 6th leading cause of death in the US and 5th leading cause of death for those aged 65 and older. It is the only cause of death among the top 10 in the US with no way to prevent it, cure it, or slow its progression. It’s Alzheimer's Disease. Deaths from AD increased 68% between 2000-2010, while deaths from other major diseases, including the number one cause of death, heart disease, decreased. People spend hours at the gym improving their physical self, but often neglect to exercise an especially vital organ – the brain. Keeping brains active helps build cognitive reserves. This is the brain's ability to create new neural pathways and connections that can be used as a sort of brain savings account, allowing you to draw on this at a later date. Studies show that people continue to operate at a high level of functioning throughout their lives by building brain reserves. David Eisenstein of Purplearn is dedicated to helping adults stave off the ravages of time using various Brain Fitness techniques. Brain fitness is a person’s capacity to meet the various cognitive demands of life -- ability to assimilate information, comprehend relationships, develop reasonable conclusions and plans. Like the brain itself, David’s path is convoluted. He is a long time educator and former stand-up comic, with over 25 years in public and private education and is an expert in cooperative learning. There is a huge social component in keeping dementia at bay, and research shows that thinking done with others increases prevention, like playing bridge. David will offer suggestions to nurture and exercise brains for adults of all ages. After the interview, check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live.
