Wednesday Night Tailgate: NFL Championship Sunday

    in Sports

The final four teams in the NFL playoffs have the four best records in the NFL.

The AFC title game is the 17th all-time meeting between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. It feels a bit different, though. While Manning looks to be on the decline, Brady has never looked better. Is New England healthy enough to score against the NFL's best defense? Can the Broncos get enough from the future Hall of Famer?

The NFC title game is the NFL's first playoff matchup of Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks: Arizona's Carson Palmer (2002) and Carolina's Cam Newton (2010). The top two seeds get together in Charlotte, where the Panthers began the NFC playoffs by defeating the Cardinals in last season's playoffs. Who has the upper hand?

Join me for the penultimate edition of Wednesday Night Tailgate on the KD's Sports Arena podcast.

Super Bowl 50 Preview: Panthers or Broncos?

    in Sports

We've finally hit Super Bowl weekend and it's historic. The California Bay Area is host to Super Bowl 50. The golden year of the NFL ends with a potentially golden match-up.

The Carolina Panthers are 17-1 and have dominated mostly everyone they've played this season. Cam Newton is having another dream season while the Panther defense has been awesome.

The Denver Broncos have dealt with more adversity than most teams. There were talks of QB Peyton Manning leaving and not wanting to hold a clipboard.

Here they are, each team 60 minutes away from a world championship. This podcast is simple: who will win?

Wednesday Night Tailgate: The Best Weekend in Football

    in Sports

Eight teams remain in the 2015 NFL playoffs, even though they're being played in January of 2016. Anyway, it's been called by many as "the best weekend in football".

In the AFC, Kansas City has won 11 straight games after a decisive win over Houston. After their first playoff win since 1994, the Chiefs take on the second-seeded New England Patriots. Do the Pats have enough on the field to advance? Do the Chiefs have the right formula to defeat the Patriots?

Pittsburgh survived hostile Cincinnati and now travel west to take on top-seeded Denver. The Broncos have Peyton Manning back under center, but should Brock Osweiler start? Can Big Ben and/or Antonio Brown play?

In the NFC, Carolina puts its 15-1 record on the line against two-time defending NFC champion Seattle. The Panthers beat the Seahawks in Seattle back in October. Who will survive this slugfest?

The Green Bay Packers found themselves against Washington and now they travel to Arizona, where the Cardinals blew them off the field in Week 16. Arizona was also blitzed at home in its regular season finale with Seattle. How will each team respond?

Join me for another edition of Wednesday Night Tailgate on the KD's Sports Arena podcast.

Wednesday Night Tailgate: Wild Card Weekend

    in Sports

Twelve teams remain in the quest for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The road to Santa Clara begins Saturday.

The AFC plays both games on Saturday. Kansas City puts its 10-game win streak on the line against the AFC South champion Houston Texans. Can the winner of this game get all the way to Super Bowl 50? How good is Kansas City?

Cincinnati and Pittsburgh could be the two best teams in the entire AFC. Can the Bengals finally win a playoff game? Are the Steelers ready for another run at the Super Bowl?

The NFC kicks off on Sunday. The Minnesota Vikings lost to the Seattle Seahawks 38-7 the last time they met in Minneapolis. Are the Vikings that much better? Do the Seahawks have enough left in the tank for a run at a third consecutive Super Bowl?

The final game this weekend pits Green Bay and Washington against each other. Have the injuries finally caught up to the Packers? Can the Redskins get up for another big home game against a quality opponent?

Find out my take on the first weekend of the NFL playoffs on the KD's Sports Arena podcast and call in with your opinions on Wednesday Night Tailgate.

    NTF Welcomes Apocalyptic Lovers

    in Rock Music

In addition to our normal schenanigans (Rock/metal news and history, The Book of Rock, Dumbass of the Week, and Scary Justin's Horror Movie Trivia) we have a great band from Ohio.

Legendary Producer Michael Wagener just completed the mixing & mastering of the band’s upcoming EP Redemption Vol I. Over Thanksgiving weekend, members of the band converged at Michael Wagener’s Wireworld Studio in Nashville, Tennessee to mix the first of what will be a ten EP collection by the band.

The band is very enthusiastic that this collaboration could be what finally gets them over the wretched music-business hump.

Apocalyptic Lovers proudly seek the audience of the once huge Arena Rock bands that have been the staple of Mr. Wagener’s producing, engineering, and mixing career. His credits are a mile long, including Ozzy Osborne, Motley Crue, Metallica, Megadeth, Skid Row, Poison, Dokken and Alice Cooper to name a few.

When the band formed years ago, most of the members of the Apocalyptic Lovers were originally from Ohio. The five members now populate greater cities in OH, PA, RI & VA. The band members each took a weekend away from their homes in August of '15 to converge with the rest of their band mates at Mindrocket Studios in West Middlesex, PA.

Rampage Rants Presents A Tribute To Brian "Axl Rotten" Knighton

    in Wrestling

We have just been given the shocking news of the passing of Brian Knighton, known to ECW fans as Axl Rotten. Axl and Ian (John Williams) known collectively as The Bad Breed were a major force early on in the tag scene in ECW. Whether as a team or feuding, they were always entertaining.

In recent years Brian had been dealing with numerous issues related to collective injuries. His struggle to be able to even be able to walk again was the subject of a documentary.

He had been with us just a couple of months ago when we paid tribute to Hack Myers and things according to him were looking good and his ability to walk was vastly improving so the shock is beyond words.

We will be joined briefly by Joel Gertner and may be joined by Jim Mollineaux and possibly other ECW Originals.
