On Monday April 27th at 8pm est, 7pm cst and 5pm pst, join us on The Fine Art of Paleontology as New Mexico Museum of Natural History field paleontologist Ken McKeighen and Ken Boorman as they discuss the stalked echinoderms in the fossil record. Crinoids, cystoids and blastoids are very common is some deposits. Only the crinoids are still living today, both the blastoids and cystoids are extinct. So many fascinatings things are now extinct. This will be a fascinating discussion please tune in.
Monday December 15th at 8pm est, 7pm cst and 5pm pst, join New Mexico Museum of Natural History field paleontologist Ken McKeighen as he and Ken Boorman discuss the echinoderms, a group of animals that includes crinoids, blastoids, cystoids, starfish, urchins and sea cucumbers. Ken McKeighen has studied and collected many species of echinoids in deposits from Indiana to New Mexico Including complete crinoids, cystoids and blastoids from Indiana's famous Silurian deposits. Chat with us on the homepage of our website and ask your questions for the guys. We will answer them live on the air and our webpage.
Frank Ryan, the author of The Mystery of Metamorphosis joins us to discuss his controversial book. Frank reviews the research, and the history, of the idea that the extreme differences in body type between larval and adult stages of metamorphic insects and echinoderms is the result of cross-phyletic hybridization. Such hybridization is in direct conflict with Darwin's theory of linear progression, and wreaks havoc with the root and branch structure of evolution.
We will talk about both the ideas, and their reception to the biology community.
