Other than having the mother of bad public relations problems, what is it going to take to get the FAA to lift its draconian rules that prohibit the vast majority of commercial drone operators from flying the friendly skies? While many naysayers point out the obvious problems that have occured with recreational drones, such as the one that recently wound up on the White House lawn, licensing drone operators would reduce this problem to managable levels. Yet the US government has been dragging its feet to regulate and train drone pilots, which is actually making our airspace more of a free-for-all and hampering air safety. In this episode we'll explore the pros and cons, as well as the political football that is making the Dawn of the Drones in US skies a white knuckled ride for us all.
Join us at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22 when Record Talk Radio will feature the first of two broadcasts on the topic of unmanned aerial drones being used by law enforcement and emergency managers.
The first program will feature excerpts from a presentation that Lt. Matthew Tiedemann, coordinator of Bergen County's Office of Emergency Management, gave last week to the freeholders.
The second segment is a pre-recorded interview with Ari Rosmarin, public policy director of the American Civil Liberties Union, who will talk about concerns his group has with the privacy implications posed by drones.
Join us on Record Talk Radio for the second half of our discussion of the use of unmanned aerial drones in emergency management and law enforcement.
This broadcast will feature pre-recorded interviews with Steve Cohen, who teaches students at Bergen Community College on the use of drones and Tom Farris, dean of the Rutgers Engineering School.
Cohen, who is also a leader in a drone users group network, will talk about efforts to obtain approval from the Federal Aviation Administration for a permit to fly drones over parts of the College campus in Paramus.
Farris will talk about his school's rolel in a FAA-commissioned research project on the commercial and civil uses of drones.
In this episode, Dr. Livesay goes over the June 22nd, 2015, USDA's Crop Progress Report, before discussing the recent ruling of the WHO regarding the cancer threat posed by 2,4-D. Next, we get an update on the conditions in Oklahoma when we check back in with our Dynamite Grower Correspondent and NCGA champ, Chris Ledbetter. The main segment of today's podcast is Part I of a 2 part series in which Dr. Livesay interviews Agricultural drone expert, Chad Colby, about the use of UAVs in agriculture. We discuss such topics as FAA regulations, whether UAVs are toys or tools, which drone you might want to buy, and what you really need to know about the use of drones in agriculture.

LETS TALK !!
More than once in the last six months I have seen "toy drones" flying around my neighborhood and other places around town. Who are flying these "surveillance -camera equiped" machines around our neighborhoods? Well, would it surprise you to know that it may not be a law enfrocement agency behind these snoopers?
You can go into any toy store, discount department store, electronic store and model plane outlet and pick up your own drone this very minute. Better yet, why waste your time and gas? use your computer, cellphone or iPad to order your drone and have it delivered to you in a couple of days. In some ares, it may even be delivered to you...by a drone!
What happened to the expectation of privacy?
Who gave anyone the right to take photos or videos of children playing in a park or in your backyard? Do law enforcement agenies have the right to "watch" you and me withoput our permission?
Join me this morning as we discuss this topic and more "In the Pickle Barrel" at 8AM-10AM EST.
Tonight we tackle the multifaceted issue of unmanned aerial vehicles, or Drones. They have gained a place in history as one of the most hated, loved, and misunderstood pieces of equiptment our society has ever created. It is important to distinguish what a person is referring to when they talk about drones. This is due to the fact that the term is a blanket reference to pretty much anything that has locomotion, and is either remotely controlled, or runs a predetermined program for it's operation. This means that everything from a small hobbyists $20 RC helicopter to General Atomics multi billion dollar fleet of Predator drones all fall under this banner.
Though we will touch on the topic of smaller 'flying camera' drones, but our main topic tonight will be the larger, CIA and military driven UAVs and their role in the so-called 'War on Terror'.
We have Brandon Bryant as our guest tonight. He knows all too well how these are used and how the operations are carried out. He should, he used to be a drone pilot. He will talk about his experiences with turning targets into 'bug splat', and the consequences, not just to those on the ground, but the scars he now bears daily with the resulting PTSD. Many studies have revealed that the PTSD most drone operators suffer from might be worse than those in hand to hand combat. It is an honor and with much gratitude that we welcome him to the show tonight.
While Brandon is not a leaker of top secret documents, he is definitely a whistleblower in the truest sense of the word. He is calling attention to the hipocrisy and deceit being propagated by the US and it's President, wherein they contend that drone strikes are a precision surgical instrument, equal to excising a cancer while leaving the remaining tissue intact. This is a lie. All males over 13 years of age are not 'militants'. Weddings are not target practice.
Hundreds of activists gathered to SHUT DOWN US drones on March 6, 2015. CODE PINK, Veterans for Peace, Women for Peace, the Nevada Desert Experience, and Voices for Creative Non-violence are for shuting down the killing thousands of civilians all over the Middle East. This operation is an outrage that is illegal under the Geneva Conventions, the UN Charter, and US Law. We honored the people murdered by drones and demanded that it stop. We delivered a letter stating such to the base commander and shut down the gates during morning rush hour traffic.
Tune in for the lowdown on this operation!!
