Character and how to build it.

    in Motivation

I believe that the lack of character I keep hearing people talk about is not because people aren't interested in the rewards of good character. Unfortunately it is either not taught or not modeled. Let's have a conversation about building character when it is difficult or when everything around you easily says otherwise,.and its rewards. The is the conversation about defying gravity.

Meet me here (646-716-5171) on Wednesdays.

If you are listening live, you may ask a question by pressing 1 on your phone or by joining the chat if you are logged in online.

    Characterizing Jameis Winston's character

    in Sports

Mind of Mansion Podcast - Depth Perspective Episode 118: is anyone capable of judging another person's character?

Accurately measuring a person's character is an impossible task and would require a privacy violation to even attempt.

"Injury prone" and "character risk" are two prime examples of the generic, all-encompassing sports labeling system.

Why talking about players in a fantasy football context is different than a real life context.

Not factoring character concerns into a prospect evaluation could actually be a competitive advantage for an NFL team.

Ask Dr. Applewhite About Perceptions of Beauty and Disability

    in Education

People with visible and non-visible physical disabilities are reminded constantly by advertisements that able-bodied persons are beautiful, productive, and successful. It was not so long ago that people of color experienced this lack of inclusion and were not portrayed with positive images. Unfortunately, the ongoing protests in the media make it clear that the perceptions held about People with Disabilities, as well as Blacks and other Non-White groups is still in need of change. Supermodel Beverly Johnson is our Special Guest and will share a unique perspective of how perceptions of beauty and disability can be changed. Our goal at White Apple Institute is to encourage positive images and perceptions that will enhance education and workforce success for Persons with Disability.Listen to Veterans with VET2VET Talk at the close of every show. Your one-time or monthly recurring tax-deductible donation of $5 or more at http://whiteappleinstitute.org will support our radio broadcasts. Children's Corner: Parenting With a Story: Real-Life Lessons in Character for Parents and Children to Share with Paul Smith

Tell a young person what to do - play fair, be yourself, stick to the task at hand - and most will tune you out. But show them how choices and consequences play out in the real world, with real people, and the impact will be far more profound. Parenting with a Story gathers 101 narratives from people around the world and from all walks of life, reflecting unexpected moments of clarity about who they are and how they should treat others.

The lessons illuminate the power of character - integrity, curiosity, creativity, grit, kindness, patience, gratitude, and more - to prepare us for anything. Sometimes heart-wrenching, sometimes funny, always compelling, these stories impart wisdom and help steer choices about: Resisting peer pressure; Remaining open-minded; Being humble; Making courageous decisions; Standing by their word; Bouncing back from failure; Showing compassion; and, Picking friends wisely. Stories help shape who we are and who we aspire to become. Share these, discuss them, and watch your child grow into the adult you'll be proud of.
