Vestal, NY – When we see strength in someone else we are attracted to it; we admire it. Unfortunately, many of us fall into the trap of perceiving ourselves through the eyes of others. We have conditioned ourselves to seek this approval, disapproval, acceptance, and rejection, but these ideological perspectives are based on a lie. If we can learn to unconditionally accept, to approve and love our own person, then will we begin to recognize that we do not need anyone else’s approval or acceptance.
According to Dr. Asa Don Brown we all deserve happiness, peace, love and kindness; the key is to “Love thyself.” Dr. Brown is a psychologist, speaker, advocate, and the author of Waiting to Live, an inspirational book that examines the concepts of unconditional love and forgiveness.
“The reason I write, is to explore ideas, concepts, and effective ways of living,” says Dr. Brown. “For me, writing is a resource of hope and it is an effective way of reaching others.”
Growing up, Dr. Brown says he was held to very high standards academically and it became a constant source of stress throughout his life. But when he began to recognize his successes and failures didn’t equate to who he really was, he began living life more fulfilled and full of grace.
“If I hadn’t been conditioned this way when I was younger who knows what man I would be today,” says Dr. Brown. “I wanted to understand why I felt this way. Waiting to Live is about what I’ve learned along the way through psychology and religion. It’s about hope, love, peace and kindness.”

"I think the biggest issue in marriage is boundary problems. Spouses so often try to change the other in the name of helpfulness. The truth is the only person you can change is you. You married them the way they are. If they're a slob, they probably were since childhood. The best you're going to do is change your response."

Meet author Ron Boehm. Ron will be my guest on the show to discuss his new book, The Boys on Cherry Street: From the Crazy Innocence of College to the Loss of Innocenc in Vietnam.
About the book:
The Boys on Cherry Street is a collection of stories both humorous and heroic. The stories start with the zany and outrageous antics of the author and his college friends and continues through his U.S. Marine Corps training, flight school and service in Vietnam. There are many great books written about the Vietnam War—its heroes, their courage and sacrifice. However, this book is different in that it also shows the keen sense of humor that some men showed in some of the most stressful situations imaginable. It was this sense of humor that Boehm believe was part of their coping mechanism that got them through the tense situations of combat. The book is a salute to the young men of the Vietnam War Era who answered their country’s call.
About the author:
Ron Boehm was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduation from Southeastern Louisiana College he went through OCS in the U.S. Marine Corps and was commissioned an officer. He was one of the first group of aviation students the Marine Corps sent through U.S. Air Force Flight School. After earning his Air Force and Navy Wings’ he flew the A6A Intruder in combat and served as a Forward Air Controller with the 7th Marine Regiment in Vietnam. Ron Currently lives in Houston, Texas has two children and owns a construction company. This is his second book.
Meet author Dr. Lucie K. Lewis. She will be my guest to discuss her book, I AM: Renewal From Within the Garden
About the book:
Much is said about the importance of knowing what you stand for so that you do not fall for just anything, but knowing what you stand on is what keeps you standing in the face of whatever comes. What you stand on becomes the anchor of your life. Dr. Lewis had anchored herself in the wisdom of a trusted confidant standing through this cherished loved-one s strength. When this very special woman died, Dr. Lewis felt lost until she could reanchor her life through a search that led her on a journey of emotional healing. In this work, Dr Lewis guides you through the lessons that soothed her weary soul and lifted her from depression. This book is for all who seek renewal, awakening, restoration, and hope in tomorrow.
About the author:
Lucie Lewis is an experienced freelance technical and creative writer and the owner/founder of Creative Futures, LLC. She holds an Ed.D. from William Howard Taft University in Educational Leadership, an M.A. in Human Services Administration from Springfield College and a B.S. in Elementary Education from American International College. Her writing has appeared in the Afro American Point of View Community Newspaper, Executive Forum Magazine, Western Mass Women s Magazine and on UnityFirst.com.
Our Broadcast today will focus on the so-called redevelopment of communities. We have seen it in Harlem, and we have seen it in Downtown Brooklyn. We saw it in Detroit, and in Philadeplhia, as well as Camden, New Jersey. How little concern there is for the established residents of a community in order to force them out and raise the prices to bring others in. Our Broadcast today will be live at the Protest March at Parking Lot 1. We are at the corner of Washington and Front Streets, with Councilwoman Goosby, and many others standing for what is right. The Developers are planning to break ground beginning here in this parking area, and many residents are coming out to speak out against it. The Overcrowded schools with 60 students per class, and the imposition of a new 336 unit apartment building a block away will only detract from the education of our students. Join us live on the phone at 10:30 am 718-305-6322 or click on and hear the voices of those in protest.(blogtalkradio.com /don-durant)

The Don S. McClure Show Live- LIFE DESIRES
Our Topic for tonight: Life Desires:
George Eliot, the well-known novelist quoted, “It seems to me we can never give up longing and wishing while we are still alive. There are certain things we feel to be beautiful and good, and we must hunger for them.” As they say, it is never too late to make wishes! So, never stop making wishes! As humans, we understand and appreciate things better than the other beings and whenever we see something beautiful and captivating, we desire to possess it. It is a natural feeling of want, which is what we call a ‘wish’. From children to adults, everyone has wishes. Kids are taught to ‘make a wish’.
It is a very positive feeling that they get when they make a wish. It’s like elation if your wish comes true.
Wishes may be small or enormous, one that lasts for a few minutes or one that we want with us forever; they may be realistic or they may be far-fetched fantasies! Whatever it is, wishes and aspirations are the ones that keeps humans going! For instance, you work because you wish to earn for a better living. Everyone has aspirations in life. They give the meaning and purpose to our life. Achieving what we wish for, and getting ultimate happiness therein, is what life is all about.
