WHAT AN EXCITING MONTH
God-gifted beauty, birthright, talent, dedication and intelligence: it’s a rare and spellbinding miracle when all of these intricate puzzle pieces click and are then claimed within one talented lady. In 2014, that lady is Dominique Toney, bowing with her deeply personal and richly impressive debut project, A Love Like Ours (via K-Tone Enterprises). Early support for this impressive new artist has been so tremendous that she raised a significant amount of funding through a Kickstarter campaign toward the post-production of this astounding debut. In possession of a voice that’s full and rich, smooth yet sweet and with an emotional quality that lures the ear, this statuesque newcomer stands out in a landscape otherwise dominated by sound-alike vocals. As a young accomplished singer, songwriter, classically trained keyboardist and actress who’s demonstrated her vast array of abilities with the likes of Ray Parker Jr., The Blackbyrds and Charles Wright, NYU alumnus Dominique is thoroughly prepared for an amazing journey as an artist in her own right. Over 11 eclectic and captivating songs ranging from Alternative Pop and Modern Soul to Dance, Jazz and Adult Contemporary, Dominique shares the arc of a real life love story and the lessons she learned along the way.
“It’s a concept album,” she says of A Love Like Ours. “The first song (‘Loving You’s So
Easy’) is about the beginning of relationship and the last song (‘I Will Love Again’) is about moving on from that relationship. My goal as an artist is to tell stories through melodies and music…and they’re all my stories. I can’t do anything that’s unauthentic to me. That’s what’s so great about finally releasing my first album yet also so awful. The reality of it all is so transparent.” Dominique Toney’s A Love Like Our.

AT FOURTEEN YEARS OLD, Dominique Moceanu was the youngest member of the 1996 U.S. Women’s Olympic Gymnastics team, the first and only American women’s team to take gold at the Olympics. Her pixyish appearance and ferocious competitive drive quickly earned her the status of media darling. But behind the fame, the flawless floor routines, and the million-dollar smile, her life was a series of challenges and hardships. Off Balance vividly delineates each of the dominating characters who contributed to Moceanu’s rise to the top, from her stubborn father and long-suffering mother to her mercurial coach, Bela Karolyi. Here, Moceanu finally shares the haunting stories of competition, her years of hiding injuries and pain out of fear of retribution from her coaches, and how she hit rock bottom after a public battle with her parents.
But medals, murder plots, drugs, and daring escapes aside (all of which figure into Moceanu’s incredible journey), the most unique aspect of her life is the family secret that Moceanu discovers, opening a new and unexpected chapter in her adult life. A mysterious letter from a stranger reveals that she has a second sister—born with a physical disability and given away at birth—who has nonetheless followed in Moceanu’s footsteps in an astonishing way.
A multilayered memoir that transcends the world of sports, Off Balance will touch anyone who has ever dared to dream of a better life.

*** OPEN DEBATE ***
What is your criteria for creating a list of the greatest players of all times?
Who would be in your top 10 of greatest small forwards of all time?
Should eras play a role in who is the best ever? Is the NBA the only real criteria to consider? Should years in the league be considered? The NBA is going away from the small forward position and is just designating players as wing players, Should that be considered?
