    Voices Carry for Animals #70

    in Pets

    Hosted By Debbie Dahmer

Guest will be: Patrick Bohler aka Dogfather- Host on The Pit Bull Advocate on Blog Talk Radio weekly

This is the last show of 2015. I want to Thank all of the former guests, callers, and listeners for all of your support in 2015. Couldn't do it without all of you.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Awesome 2016.

In September 2002, Patrick adopted his first Pit Bull. Doing what any dog owner should do, he researched the breed, immersing himself in history, and discovering myths and eventually, breed bias. Battles with property management at his workplace, having the full support of his bodss and co-workers, he won and was able to continue to bring this dog he had named Bean to work every day.

The following October he founded Sonoma County Residents Responsible About Pit Bulls (SCRRAP). In a press interview Patrick stated "We are a part social, and all advocacy group." The goal was to get other Pit Bull owners together for meetups and walks. SCRRAP was able to help other owners with training and socializing, as well as assisting in finding homes for dogs the were in need.

In March of 2012, The Pit Bull Advocate online Blog Talk Radio show was launched. Using the name Dogfather because "It's not about me... Being an Advocate. It was a way to draw attention to other Advocates and to rescue organizations without trying to just go out and make a name for myself. It's about the dogs, and those who are on the front lines every single day fighting for their rights, and for what is right.

The Good, Bad & Ugly of Animal Advocacy in Social Media

    in Pets

Join Dogfather and Joe Frazier with guest host, Rachel Marie in Wisconsin.

The Good, Bad & Ugly of Animal Advocacy in Social Media.
Does social media do more harm than good to a cause?

Do we really need to spend more time online sharing and liking, commenting and arguing the fate of a dog, or are our efforts better spent locally with less time online?

Are public clashes between advocacy and rescue groups acceptable behavior, and if you take a side, do you know enough about the situation to make that a logical choice?

How can we better work together as advocates, in and out of social media?

These questions and others will be the topic of this weeks discussion on The Pit Bull Advocate. Tune in and call in to add your voice!

    Advocate vs. Advocate

    in Pets

In the world of Pit Bull Advocacy, we all want the same thing. The fair and equal treatments of the dogs we know and love as Pit Bull. One thing has been clear in my 12 years as an owner, lover, and advocate, our methods and views are not always the same, and we can, and we do, clash. In fighting, boasting, egos, and more. What can we do as advocates to look past those differences, avoid such clashes and do away with the egos involved, including our own?

Join Dogfather and Joe on our 1st show of 2015 as we discuss this and more. We welcome your calls with comments and questions. Phone lines open at the top of the show. 347-838-8615
