Buzzy Martin Privatization Of Prisons Who's Investing In Them and who is CCA, after writing his book... Buzzy has become an advocate for everyone in the wrong side of the prison system and what it means to parents and their children!
PRIVATE PRISONS ARE BACK...
Outlawed at the beginning of the 20th Century, private corporations are once again owning and operating prisons for profit. A controversial issue which dates back to the days that followed the Emancipation Proclamation, CORRECTIONS examines its re-appearance today amidst globalization and the most awesome growth of prisons in all of modern history, painting a complex portrait of what many are calling the "prison industrial complex."
THE PRIVATE PRISON
In the mid-1980's, fifteen years of massive and unprecedented growth within the US prison system hit a snag -- it ran out of money.
When the state wants to build a new prison, it traditionally asks the voters to approve the cost through a bond issue. But this time, voters throughout the country began to say no.
So many turned to private investment, to venture capital, both to fund new prison projects and to run the prisons themselves for costs around $30 to $60 per bed, per day. This began what we know today as the for-profit, PRIVATE PRISON INDUSTRY.
THE PRISON BOOM PRODUCES PRISON PRIVATIZATION 1970 : 280,000 prisoners | 2000 : 2,000,000 prisoners.

During the Victorian era movement, in the 1850s, England passed the first laws against por.nog.raphy. The laws did not stop the prolific spread of por.nog.raphy and may have actually increased demand. In the 1970's and 1980's, the extreme feminists took up the banner of the anti-po.rn movement. Their approach was bellicose and divisive and focused on passing laws that were eventually found to be unconstitutional.
Learning from the past, Fight the New Drug takes a non-legislative, non-judgmental approach. We recognize an individual's right to view and produce por.nog.raphy, however, once they are educated on the harmful effects of por.nog.raphy we believe they will choose to avoid it. We only wish to educate about the negative effects of por.nog.raphy on individuals, families, and businesses.
In our research, we've found that many people, especially Americans, automatically assume that the anti-por.nog.raphy movement is at odds with First Amendment freedoms. Under that perception, people are asked to weigh the importance of free speech against the damaging effects of por.nog.raphy. Fight the New Drug rejects this perception and we will position ourselves as anti-po.rn, pro-free speech.
Fight the New Drug's message is based on science and facts. In a sense, science is an international currency. We explain why po.rn is harmful by educating people about the negative psychological and physical reactions it causes. We do not affiliate ourselves with any religious groups or political agendas.
This movement is the result of many years spent developing ideas and researching the effects of por.nog.raphy. Taking a fresh approach to the issue, we're a non-profit organization dedicated to help the young generation educate itself with the facts on por.nog.raphy. We hope you will join us in this fight.
Free the Girls® is a non-profit organization providing job opportunities to women rescued from sex trafficking
Kimba Langas Co-Founder & Executive Director of http://FreeTheGIrls.com
Kimba likes to refer to herself as an “accidental abolitionist.” An Emmy-award winning producer and 20-year veteran of the television and video production industry, Kimba has always had a passion for storytelling. Just two short years ago, though, the story of modern day slavery and sex trafficking wasn't even on her radar.
When her friend David approached her as a partner for a new organization he wanted to form to assist survivors of sex trafficking, she was intrigued. Little did she know how the issue would grab her heart and never let go.
Kimba works at the Free The Girls U.S. offices, and is responsible for day-to- day domestic operations of the organization, which includes speaking to women’s groups on the subject of human trafficking, igniting fires in new abolitionists, raising funds for the cause, and packing and shipping thousands of bras.

The why of this show - we want to protect our children from online and offline dangers, but what is the government doing when they add programs that have already put our children's portion of this debt well beyond the $40k mark as of today.
