Education is moving online, but what about textbooks? Dominated by traditional publishers who put out new editions every three years, the textbook industry is over-priced, outdated, and just waiting for disruption. One of the leading startups trying to do just that is Boston's Boundless. Today, founder and CEO Ariel Diaz talks to Hamish McKenzie about why Boundless is being sued by the major publishers, how textbook publishing could change in favor of students, and what it's like to run a consumer startup in Boston.
At the age of 11, Afredo Diaz, and his family moved back to the U.S. from Puerto Rico. Alfredo was now writing short stories and drawing, which he continued to do through high school. Along the way, he added a few more art forms to his repertoire: he was a graffiti artist, a tattoo artist, and even started making posters for local musicians. It was around this time he fell into the underground society of NYC and went through a dark period in his life…until he met his present mentor one day while driving a limo and she encouraged him to keep writing. Writing turned into screenwriting, screenwriting turned into filmmaking and filmmaking turned into acting. Acting has taken over in a way he probably never would have expected. He’s studied acting with currently some of the best teachers, like Larry Moss, John Dapolito from AWG and Marketa Kimbrell from NYU Tisch. He’s been working since either as a hired actor or creating his own work and collaborating with other artists. As a playwright he's had his work up at The Barrow Group Theater where his play I Saved a Sewer Rat made it to the semi finals of the Networks One Act Festival. He also worked on a feature film called Override that played at several festivals, including The Hamptons Film Festival. Some of his other films include Holy Sapian with Charlie McDermott and Over the Harlem Moon. Alfredo has also received positive reviews for his work on stage. In Our Lady of 121st Street at The Queens Theater, Alfredo played the role of Balthazar, a cantankerous alcoholic and for For Petes Sake where he played Voice 2, the wild man in a dark comedy. Alfredo also originated the role of John Ryan in the play, Like You, which was part of a show entitled, Men Without Myth produced by BTC Productions at Urban Stages. Ex-Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Oliver Diaz and criminal defense attorney Jennifer Fitzgerald weigh in with their opinions on the Jeffrey Havard case in Mississippi.
Jeff sits on death row, a victim of an angry lynch mob and an overzealous prosecution spawned by greed and politics. This is the story of Jeffrey Havard, 34, who today sits in a solitary cell on death row.
Jeffrey is accused of the murder and sexual assault of his girlfriend’s child, Chloe Britt, 6 months old, on February 21st, 2002, when Chloe wiggled out of his hands and hit her head on the toilet; Jeff thought she was okay and put her to sleep. When Chloe’s mother, Rebecca Britt returned home, she found Chloe blue in the face. Rebecca rushed her to the ER, where she was pronounced shortly thereafter.
In order to pursue a capital murder conviction and death sentence, the prosecution had to have an underlying felony. They created one and claimed Jeff sexually abused the child. Jeffrey refused a plea bargain to life without parole, as he was obstinate in his denial of the charges. Jeff, 23 at the time of the incident, needs your help today!

Our Chi For Yourself guest experienced a major shift in his life with the death of his 38 year old wife, with whom he was raising their 3 children. The shock and pain Luis Angel Diaz experienced became a catalyst for a profound inner process in human discovery. He discovered that layers of negative emotional charge accumulate and are stored inside our bodies, causing many body-mind chemical imbalances and health/life challenges, and prevent us from experiencing peace and wellbeing. After several months of personal discovery, Luis began to apply this new approach with his clients. He observed his clients experience healing in a permanent way when they were able to transform these layers of emotional charge found in what he began to call “the cellular memory”. Luis named this new set of techniques “Cellular Memory Release” (CMR) and formulated it into a synthesis for training others. Operating from his Body-Mind Center in Nevada City, California, Luis has trained and educated hundreds of people in CMR since 1997. Luis Angel Diaz is the author of Memory in the Cells.
