NWP welcomes Adhamh OBroin, dialect coach for STARZ-TV hit show 'OUTLANDER" http://adhamhobroin.scot
The producers of "Outlander" are all about making the show as authentic as it can be.
That starts with shooting in the foggy hills of the Scottish Highlands — including turning real-life ruin Castle Doune into fictional Castle Leoch, home of the MacKenzie clan, whose exploits are recounted in Diana Gabaldon’s best sellers — garbing the men in real kilts, which are composed of some 10 yards of tartan and then folded by hand; and having the Scots speak Gaelic, the language of the time. That’s why resident hunk Jamie Fraser often affectionately refers to Claire Randall as “Sassenach,” which means “outlander” in Gaelic, a derisive term that Jamie turns into a pet name.
Since Gaelic is nearly a dead language, sprinkling it liberally through the scenes took some doing. For starters, the show hired Àdhamh Ó Broin to serve as the show’s Gaelic dialect coach.
The series was lucky to find Ó Broin. The married father of four has dedicated much of his life to the study and preservation of the language and its multiple dialects, and he brought that expertise to bear on “Outlander.”

BEFORE THE ROMANS & THE GREEKS THERE WERE 9 DAYS IN EVERY WEEK, AND TIME WAS KEPT BY CHARTING STARS, THAT WERE VISIBLE ON OUR CALENDARS, AWARE OF THE MOVEMENT OF THE EARTH / STARS & THE MOON, THESE ANCIENT AFRICAN INDIGENOUS PRIMORDIAL PEOPLES WERE COSMICALLY ATTUNED.The Temple of ( Het-Heru/Hathor ) was discovered by Napoleon,s General Desaix during the French intervention of African Egypt in (1798 ) A.D.Inside, on a ceiling in an upper room they found the Zodiac of Dendera.Starting with the sign of th lion( Leo ) at the Spring Equinox, this circular zodiac indicates a celestial alighnment that occurred over 9,000 years ago;making it the oldest and most complete of any astronomical charts ever found on the earth. This zodiac of twelve astrological sign, written in an African dialect, demostates that it was a gift of superior black minds and supersdedes accepted concepts that suggest that the Babylonians or chaldains were the originators of astrology and astronomy, or that Zodiac with- it,s Latin names were the results of Roman efforts.
Remember, Zodiac in Latin means zoo, that famous gap always presents it,s self. Let me re-assure you today, right now, that 9,000 ago there was no Europe or Rome and there were no Hebrews nor Greeks or Babylonians.
If centuries of sex, sin, violence, Romance and Heresy echoed within the walls of your childhood home, would you dare spill the secrets now solely in your possession?
The Sins of Castel du Mont is based partly on Italian Folklore passed down From generation to generation... secrets whispered from father to son, mother to daughter, until the day the author incredibly became the first legitimate child born within its infamous walls.
In 1964, feeling the lure of the castle and the legends surrounding it, author Rosemary Bracco Greenbaum Kohler was drawn to her birthplace to unravel the mysteries of the Castel du Mont. Conducting intensive interviews with only local citizens over eighty years old, the author collected the four epic tales artfully woven together into this monumental novel. The haunting stories surrounding The Castel were given to her in the dying dialect of Piedmontese.
For centuries, The Castel has kept its secrets and for decades, these unorthodox accounts whispered from generation to generation simmered in translation until the time was ripe for the stories to be revealed…
Legend has it that the occupants of the castel lived a life of notoriety and scandal. The Sins of Castel du Mont is actually four interwoven stories based on the research the author collected and some of castel’s most memorable residents, including Bianca, the bride of an oppressive and cruel count, Clara and dante, victims of an indecent and obscene priest, and lovers, Roxanne and Father Claudio whose forbidden love was shocking not only because Father Claudio was a member of the clergy but because it was under the dispassionate eye of Roxanne’s womanizing husband.
For Centuries, The Castel has kept it’s secrets. For decades these unorthodox accounts simmered in translation until the time was ripe for the enigma to be revealed.
And when the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all assembled together in one place,
Acts 2:1-7.. When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were separated and distributed and which settled on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit [a]kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words]. 5 Now there were then residing in Jerusalem Jews, devout and God-fearing men from every country under heaven. 6 And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together and they were astonished and bewildered, because each one heard them [the apostles] speaking in his own [particular] dialect. 7 And they were beside themselves with amazement, saying, Are not all these who are talking Galileans?

#MyRealTalkRadio Interviews Bad Girls Club: Jada Cacchilli
Jada Cacchilli is a pint size sassy spitfire hailing from Jamaica Queens, NY with familial roots in Cocoa, Florida. As a budding artist, Jada’s passion for music was born through her tumultuous upbringing as she would often find solace in listening to the music of artists who continue to inspire her today; soulful crooners Lauren Hill, India Arie, and rappers; Jay Z, Tupac, Fabolous, & Lloyd Banks. In 2011 Jada began her modeling career appearing in small ads and would later go on to appear in commercials for hair care products and music videos. Modeling earned Jada a new level of visibility and paved the way to her hosting lavish parties at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion.
In May 2014 Jada Cacchilli was introduced to the world on one of Oxygen’s top rated reality shows during Season 12 of The Bad Girls Club Chicago. Known for her northern dialect, style, and charisma, Jada quickly became Season Twelve’s fan favorite and before long was invited back to the Bad Girl’s Club by popular demand for an encore return to film The Bad Girls Club Season 13 "All Star Redemption."
Since the show, Jada has been nurturing her growth as an artist and role model. Recent music collaborations led Jada to GBK studios in Chicago with producer and artist "Saint the Good Boy". This collaboration led to the release of her first single, “Girls Around the World” through TMG Street Pride available for download on iTunes and Soundcloud.

In this episode, Jung discusses her oral history project recording the stories of the grandmothers of Jeju. From an essay on aamora.com:
"For the last couple of years, I've taken photos and written essays of sweet grannies in my island home, Jeju-do, South Korea. Here, we call grannies 'Halmang' in Jeju dialect.
Most of them live alone in peaceful rural villages, set against the mountains and the ocean. Their kids left their old towns and ran away to the city. Their husbands have long passed away. Sadly, many grannies lost their beloved ones to the tragic Jeju 4:3 massacre (1948) and the Korean War (1950-1953).
In a Halmang's universe, time passes slower and smoother. Without speaking too many words, their stories spread like endless tree-rings; the stories as someone's lovely daughter, as some guy's beautiful woman, as some kid's strong mother, and also as everyone's sweet grandma."
She can be heard every Wednesday on Jeju's CBS 93.3 FM, and her oral history essays can be found at jejusori.net.
This interview was recorded in late November at the Seomun Market Global Festival in Jeju City.
Special thanks to local musician Ruth Minnikin for her performance at the festival.

One of the pivotal days in Alicia Olatuja's life happened just last year. She had a memorable moment, singing at one of the BIG Inauguration events for the re-elected Barack Obama. So stunning was her classically trained mezzo soprano voice that the buzz began IMMEDIATELY. No less than Elizabeth Hasselbeck (formerly of "The View") praised her on the show as if she had never heard anyone sing before that day :)
Well, the buzz has never STOPPED - and that's no exaggeration! This beautiful St. Louis native - now based in New York - is writing her own ticket to stardom. A vocal performance graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Alicia gave her recital at Carnegie Hall. And she debuted professionally as Sacagawea in a world premiere operetta.
Musical Theater and Opera have been great passions in our guest's life - but so has Jazz. She and her husband, the fantastic bassist, Michael Olatuja, have their own band. When you hear "The Olatuja Project", your receive the bliss of Alicia singing in a Yoruba or Shona dialect. Please check out "The Promise" on CD.
And the reason for Glorious Alicia's visit? Her OTHER CD, "Timeless." :-D When the most industrious promoter, Kari Gaffney, sent the album to yours truly, there was a lengthy ZONING during that day. Little else got accomplished but listening to Alicia's voice. If you've HEARD her, you know! Michael is with her on this project - as well as another bassist that you might know: Christian McBride :) And other noteworthy artists.
But it's the world class Alicia Olatuja who is our focus on 12/2. With the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir since 2007, voice teacher, vocal producer, teaching artist at the neighborhood Arts Council - OH - and a composer, too! So very impressive. Please: hear for yourself!
