Merrell Merricks was born in New Orleans, La. to Gilbert and Bettye Merricks. The second of four boys, he was raised in the New Orleans lower ninth ward by his grandparents. His grandmother Rev Ida Mae Youngblood introduced him to God at an early age. Mr. Merricks obtained a Bachelor & Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Southern University at New Orleans. Merrell joined the military where he served in Operation Desert Storm. In 1997, Merrell joined the New Orleans Police Department where he is presently employed. He has also served as a patrolman, auto theft investigator & a school resource officer during his 20+ years in law enforcement. Mr. Merricks’ blessing was assisting families whom he helped evacuate the city during Hurricane Katrina with now returning back to their homes. Detective Merricks returned to the New Orleans Police Department where he is currently assigned to the Department’s Special Victim Section. He serves as a Cold Case Detective for the Sex Crimes Unit as well as a Child Abuse Investigator. He implemented a program called “Teen Sex and The Law” where he educates today’s teens with laws associated with sexual assaults. His purpose and passion is to prevent young adults from becoming casualties of the criminal justice system. Detective Merricks has had extensive training in the field of Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Investigation. He has attended numerous training sessions with the U.S Dept of Justice, The Center for Missing and Exploited Children, The National Children Advocacy Center, The Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention He is the father of a beautiful teenage daughter Torre Merricks.

THAT was fun! YES!! "Get A Clue" S6e6 of #Castle really was! This weekly "ride" helps us [the audience] think about what we think about each the various situations our favorite characters seem to land themselves in.. week after week. We LOVE it! While we're not always on the same page, we're in it through the bends and curves the show guides us through. Emotion [either one way or the other], demonstrates your passion for this wonderful show on ABC called "Castle". After the latest news and our first fan spotlight, we'll cheer [virtually] the entire 'Castle team' for their continued awesome ratings this week/season! The STR Round is already geared up and has received some spirited feedback on last night's episode which clearly demonstrates the passion for the show and the need to "talk it out" regarding the latest father/daughter relationship situation. We are a global audience and there is a lot of value in listening and respecting one another's perspective. Tuesday, October 8th, Stana is scheduled to be on 'The Chew' and we'll get to see her "in the kitchen" with Carla Hall. Tuesday night is the NYC Premiere of 'CBGB The Movie' and she is scheduled to walk the red carpet. Gotta love those "Stana Tuesdays" ;)

A Time Travel episode? Rick Castle is gonna love THIS!! It's fun reading the Castle writers comments such as @chadgcreasey tweeting about MilMar and how "Time Will Tell" is a new "Castle Classic" episode for this season. Can't wait to see it!! "Time Will Tell" was written by MilMar [Executive Producers Terri Edda Miller with husband/showrunner Andrew W. Marlowe] and directed by Executive Producer Rob Bowman.

My next guest is Peter Quinn, who joined Time Inc. as the chief speechwriter in 1985 & retired as corporate editorial director for Time Warner in 2007. He received a BA from Manhattan College (1969), an MA in history from Fordham Univ (1974) and was ABD.. He was awarded a Ph.D., honoris causa by Manhattan College (2002). In 1979, he was Governor Carey's chief speechwriter, continuing under Governor Mario Cuomo; he helped craft the Governor’s 1984 Democratic Convention speech & his address at Notre Dame University. His 1994 novel Banished Children of Eve won a 1995 American Book Award. Looking for Jimmy: In Search of Irish America was published in 2007. Colum McCann summed up Quinn's historical detective novels -- Hour of the Cat (2005), The Man Who Never Returned (2010), and Dry Bones (2013) -- as "generous and agile and profound." He co-wrote the 1987 television doc "McSorley’s New York," (NY Emmy for “Outstanding Historical Programming”). He was a commentator in PBS documentaries “The Irish in America;” “New York: A Documentary Film;” “The Life and Times of Stephen Foster,” s the Academy Award-nominated film, “The Passion of Sister Rose.” He was an advisor on Martin Scorcese’s “Gangs of New York.” He helped conceive/script the 6-part doc “The Road to the White House,” which aired on TG4 in Ireland (2009). Quinn was editor of The Recorder: The Journal of the American Irish Historical Society (1986 to 1993). He has articles/reviews in The NY Times, Commonweal, America, American Heritage, Catholic Historical Review, Philadelphia Enquirer, L.A. Times, Eiré-Ireland. He is on the advisory boards of the American Irish Historical Society, NYU's Gluckman Ireland House, and the Tenement Museum.
