    Get to know Furtesha Carter…
Furtesha Carter is a true “Nashvillian” born and raised. Growing up in Nashville allowed her to inherit a unique appreciation for southern hospitality. Furtesha quotes, “Without God, family and friends what do you have in life? In my world, those are my three focuses.”Whether it be in real estate or volunteer programs, she finds great joy in using the talents God has provided her in order to help people. Furtesha is the proud parent of a teenage daughter and son and is called Momma to many teenagers through Nashville’s Communityfoster care system. She is the founder of a non-profit mentoring program, Sister 2 Sistah that caters to middle-school age girls throughout the Nashville and surrounding communities. • Sneaky Moms Tricks to Kids and Goal Setting with Kas Winters.

    in Women

Discover “Sneaky Mom” techniques and ideas to teach children to set goals and achieve them in ways that make them think they are just playing. Kas Winters, The Mother of Famiy Ideas, is here on #WoMRadio January 7th at 10amPT/1pmET and anytime in archive with her first show of the new year on the first Wednesday of 2015!

Young children don’t usually set goals or even know what that means. They live one day at a time, and that’s a great thing for a child. Although goal setting is not something kids usually do, we can guide them to explore activities they might enjoy by asking questions. Is there something would you like to learn to do? What booksyou would like to read? If you were an inventor, what would create? Is there a place you would like to explore? Do you know how to . . . ? What happens if you . . . ? Of course questions are endless. Keep asking and let them ask questions too. Their questions will vary with their age, experiences, interests, and abilities.

Join us as Kas shares great ways to guide your children playfully into finding life-long interests on The Sneaky Mom Show the first Wednesday here on Word of Mom Rado.

Thanks to If Not You Who.org and My Healthy Concepts for sponsoring the show. Meet them and off our our sponsors in our Mompreneur Marketplace.

THE CANARY with Jacqueline T. Moore

    in Books

THE CANARY with Jacqueline T. Moore

    RECIPE FOR ADVENTURE

    1 spunky widow

    1 hateful church lady

    2 sailors & 1 checkerboard

    5 little darlin’s + I smarty stinker

Add 1 apron pocket full of jewels

Mix well and bake in the 1890’s Galveston heat

Myra Gallaway, a young widow with five children, supports her family by walking the wharves of Galveston selling homemade sweets. She never imagined she’d be joining forces with husband-hating church society queen, Julia Jameson. Myra’s apron pockets are soon filling up with the unspendables man smuggling sailor friends Sure Foot and Black Jack need to move. The Klondike gold fields are calling hapless dreamers and the boys are all about obliging them, yet everybody knows that a sailor cannot spend what he does not earn.

Some people call Jacqueline T. Moore a snowbird because she spends so much time writing in South Carolina. Not so. She loves the Ohio winters with all the ice and snow. She says, “Traveling south in the summer makes me a sunflower…and a beach bum!” As a writer and educator, Jacqueline surrounds herself with words. She savors the sounds and sense of letters put together to create a lasting memory. Her debut novel, THE CANARY, is inspired by a most beautiful yellow diamond that rests on her finger and the whispered family secrets about how it got there.

Please visit her at www.jacqueline-t-moore.com and on Facebook at Jacqueline T. Moore for conversations and updates on her next book, THE CHECKERBOARD.
