There is probably nothing more tedious than plowing through a long-winded job description to find out if a particular job is a good fit for you. But as CEOs managing a business, we know they are crucial to our success. The job description is your first clue as to whether a particular position is a good fit for you or not. If you can adequately match your skills to those required in a particular job description, then this document becomes the “trigger” for developing a value proposition. In fact, you won’t be able to create a value proposition without one.
There have been many successful managers in the music industry including the late Chris Lighty. There are much more managers that are very unsuccessful and they have never made their clients a dime.
As a personal manager, it is important that you fully understand your job description, so you know if you are ready to manage a recording artist.
Some of the things that you will learn during this radio show are:
The 3 types of managers in the music industry and their job descriptions.
The duties of a road manager.
The problems not having a manager creates for a recording artist.
Why a good manager puts everything in motion.
Are you ready to be the Bad Cop
A manager is a very important person, so a recording artist must not take his or her decision in hiring a qualified manager lightly. It will be up to you to prove that you are an artist’s best management option.

What is the first thing that comes to mind when a man says: DWB? I had the most horrible experience when I turned into the bank parking lot. Out of nowhere, I see flashing lights and countless police officers yelling and pointing their guns at me. All at one time they each demanded, “Put the window down…Let me see your hands…Stick your hands out of the window!!” I barely get time to think to myself, “What the f*<k is going on?” I’m violently pulled from out of the car and wrestled down to the pavement.
Guns still pointed at a defenseless man, I could hear one of the officers say, “I have it pointed at your head. Try me.” I could see the adrenaline growing within each of them by the second, as they hoped I was the guy they were looking for. My seventy with a breeze kicked in as I said, “I would appreciate it if you are going to pull on me, do it from the right side of my body. I recently had surgery on the left side of my body. One of the officers who was attempting to get physical said, “What’s your name?”
In that moment, I felt like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X wrapped into one. One part of me was fighting not to curse those white boys out, while the other part of me said, “F*<k it. You’re as clean as a whistle. Handle them like they are handling you.” An officer standing off to my left calls an officer’s name as he shakes his head saying, “That’s not him.” Be EPIC and know that the guy they were looking for was a 23 year old with dreads. I’m a 40 year old with a baldhead.
You have to wonder if everyone who calls themselves a Prophet is one. Some are just very prophetic and prophesy about what prophets do.. (No one is perfect and prophets fall in pitfalls too: pride, self-pity, depression, comparison, self-promotion, rejection, etc.) But look at the biblical calling of Prophet and ask if "prophets" today actually DO in any significant way what Prophets DO. The Bible commands us use discernment. Are they prophets or parrots, saying what they hear prophets say? You should be able to recognize a prophet by the job description.
In this episode I will talk about character description and what to put in your manuscript.
