In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer, talks to the founders of LionAid.org, Dr. Pieter Kat and Christine Macsween to discuss new import regulations in the EU to protect our big cats and other species. LionAid.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and preservation of lions. Their mission is to create awareness about the huge decline of the lion population and work with government officials and other organizations to cease the legal hunting of these animals. Lions are a major trophy for hunters. Despite their well-documented decline, there is still a considerable trophy hunting effort. Since the last-published decline in lion numbers on the continent were made public in 2002-2004, over 4,400 lions have been exported as trophies. As such, trophies are largely male lions. The effect of this commercial activity has greatly impacted both overall lion numbers and the ability for remaining lions to reproduce. Trophy hunting must cease.

The Red Wings finish their 6-game road trip 4-1-1 and then trade two prospects to the Dallas Stars for left-winger Erik Cole and a 3rd-rounder. Can they make another trade for a BETTER DEFENSEMAN for a change??? Lots of trade talks to come, too, as the trade deadline approaches. Plus they should waive defenseman Brendan Smith. I'll explain why.
The Pistons are now 2-3 after the Reggie Jackson and Tayshaun Prince trades. The trades, however, are not the real problem. It's their DEFENSE! Also, some Greg Monroe offseason talk.
In college basketball, the Michigan Wolverines continue to struggle, and now the Michigan State Spartans take a turn for the worse losing two straight, including one to the Minnesota Golden Gophers at home. But the Central Michigan Chippewas continue rolling and may have a shot at an NCAA tournament spot.
The Lions cut running back Reggie Bush to save $1.7 million in cap space and thus make more possibility to re-sign and put a franchise tag on defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Should they also try to keep wide receiver Calvin Johnson?
The Tigers start their 2015 Spring Training preseason Monday (tomorrow).
In this episode of The Red Light Sports Ramble; presented by The Red Light Sports Network, Evan Witalison and Troy Otradovec, will go down the list of players that received the Franchise Tag, in the NFL. By 4pm EST today, teams had to designated their franchise tags. Of all the tags handed out today, did any suprise you? The one name that did not recieve a tag, Ndamukong Suh, of the Detroit Lions. Suh earned $22.4 million, and is expected to command a salary, that will make him the highest paid defensive player. The New England Patriots are always doing things outside of the box. Today, instead of tagging safety Devin McCourty, they slapped it on kicker, Stephen Gostkowski. Listen in and call the show with your thoughts.
This week sucked. This week in Penn State basketball really, really sucked. The Nittany Lions lost a heartbreaking game against Wisconsin, then the squad got completely smoked by Northwestern, it blew. Fortunately, after the NU loss, there was a silver lining: AD Sandy Barbour gave a public endorsement of Pat Chambers going forward. On this week's episode of the BSD Basketbro Show, Bill, Eric and Chad welcome special guest Tim Beidel, and the guys discuss the state of Penn State hoops. Is Pat Chambers the man for the job? How can the AD support the squad? What the hell went wrong this year? All of this and more on the best damn Penn State basketball podcast on the web.
