Sam and Dave re War, Military Deployment, and Life Afterwards

    in Self Help

Sam and Dave, two close buddies, in different branches of the US military, will sit with us to discuss War, Military Deployment, and Life Afterwards. They are also here to answer your questions and respond to your comments.

Panel: A panel discussion with 2 veterans, Sam and Dave, about the War, Military Deployment, and the residual effects on families during and after war time.

If there is any advice you can share with our audience who may be thinking about joining the military, or even currently serving in the armed forces what advise as Veterans can you share?

According to the US National Library of Medicine, National Institute of Health, “Among the consequences of war, the impact on the mental health of the civilian population is one of the most significant. Studies of the general population show a definite increase in the incidence and prevalence of mental disorders. Women are more affected than men. Other vulnerable groups are children, the elderly and the disabled. Prevalence rates are associated with the degree of trauma, and the availability of physical and emotional support. The use of cultural and religious coping strategies is frequent in developing countries.”

Author Dr. Gary Chapman & Military Wife Jocelyn Green Discuss Love After War

    in Military

Join the Hope For The Warriors Talk Radio Team as we sit down with Dr. Chapman and Jocelyn Green as we discuss personal relationship tips and communication skills after combat.

Marriage is hard enough for the everyday civilian.  But imagine marriage when you are separated by thousands of miles—when one of you faces the dangers of combat and the other shoulders all the burden of home-front duties. As new research shows that long deployments increase the risk of divorce in military marriages (RAND Corporation, Sept. 2013) New York Times best-selling author Dr. Gary Chapman and co-author and former military wife Jocelyn Green have written a new book, The 5 Love Languages Military Edition: The Secret to Love that Lasts, that provides valuable tools for sustaining marriages in even the most challenging of circumstances. Based on Chapman’s popular The 5 Love Languages series of books, which have sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, the Military Edition has been adapted specifically for couples who face the unique challenges of marriage—from deployment to reintegration to constant re-location.  The book provides tools to help couples identify, understand, and speak their spouse’s primary love language: quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, or physical touch.
