    Living In Denial

    in Self Help

With a vast amount of resources at everyone's disposal to assist each and every one of us in our difficult emotional journeys through life, why do so many of us still live unhealthy emotional lives? There is no simple answer to that question and it is the reason I do the shows I do on A Fine Time For Healing.

We all use defense mechanisms as a way to cope with life and its painful truths, distressing thoughts, and uncomfortable feelings. There are several defense mechanisms that we may employ, but denial is the one most commonly used to avoid acknowledging unacceptable realities.

Denial is not a bad thing when it is used to temporarily cope with tough situations. It only becomes a problem when we use it as a substitute for healthy coping skills over a long period of time.

The goal of today's show is to help you understand the many facets of denial. You will learn to recognize denial in yourself and others. By the end of this show you will have some tools to help you or someone you care about begin to stop living in denial and start living emotionally healthy lives.

    Self-Deception and Denial!

    in Spirituality

    Prayer with the Prophets!

Let's pray like: Jesus, King David, Daniel, Prophetess Anna, Paul and Silas and you!

    Luke 18:1 (KJV)
    1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

    Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Let us pray until we have the answer!

The Armenian Genocide: 100 Years of Denial

    in Politics

Friday, April 24, 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the deportations in Western Turkey which resulted in the genocide of the Armenian people. Over the next nine months nearly 1.5 million men, women and children were either brutally murdered, starved to death or else  forced to march across a parched desert to their almost certain extinction, by Turkish gendarmes and  their accomplices at the behest of the Turkish government.  This event, one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th Century, has been recalled in countless books , articles and documentaries and its veracity is without question.  Yet to this day, the Turkish government refuses to recognize this massive human rights crime, let alone apologize for it and most world governments have stonewalled any attempt to build a universal recognition of the events of those months.  This conference will seek to investigate the motivations behind the genocide, the extent of the massacres and the reasons the world has largely failed the memory of the innocent victims.

Domestic Abuse............ "Are you in DENIAL?"

    in Self Help

Denial at it's most basic is saying something hasn't happened. It is extremely sick, and extremely powerful. It is the way that we can commit abuse and still live with ourselves. It allows us to continue being abusive by staying in the sick place, and by allowing us to hide our sickness from others so that we can maintain the abusive situation for a longer period of time.

We lie to others, and most devastatingly, we lie to ourselves. The major tactics we use in maintaining our denial are minimizing, rationalizing, and justifying. The effect of these tactics is to redefine what happened, what is acceptable, and what is harmful in such a way that ultimately any act, no matter how hideous, can be carried out.

First Corinthians 15 Consequences of Denial

    in Religion

Some at Corinth denied the resurrection of the dead ones. In this study we address their denial in an effort to demonstrate the nature of the resurrection. A great divide exists among those who believe the text discusses physical or the biological resurrection of bodies rising from the tomb.

In this study we will examine some of these reasons and show thatt theey do not support the language of the text. Our goal is to lay a foundation upon which the listeners can build to complete their individual study.

Music: GREEN DAY "Working Class Hero" (Written by John Lennon)

As soon as your born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and you're classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like all the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero, well just follow me
If you want to be a hero, well just follow me

Most Addictions Are Obvious -- But Many Are Hidden Behind Walls of Denial

    in Spirituality

Almost without exception -- all of us are addicted to something.  You may say, "Not me!  I have no dependency on alcohol or drugs... I don't overeat or smoke... I have no issues with gambling or overindulgence in sex, so how could I be an addict?"

In fact, most of us have at least one addiction, whether we know it or not.  The reason we may not know we are an addict is that the definition of addiction is really way too narrow in scope.  I believe that anything we are dependent on to give us a payoff is a form of addiction. The ego knows no boundaries in creating all kinds of addictions because the world of physical senses is the ego's playground.

On the program I will explain the many ways we create our addictions and I will offer some solutions to overcome them.  And also -- I'll tell you about my own personal addiction that nearly killed me.

And don't forget...if you have a dream you would like me to interpret, please call in during the show.
