Deism is the belief that reason and observation of the natural world are sufficient to determine the existence of a Creator, accompanied with the rejection of revelation and authority as a source of religious knowledge. Deism gained prominence in the 17th and 18th centuries during the Age of Enlightenment—especially in Britain, France, Germany, and the United States—among intellectuals raised as Christians who believed in one god, but found fault with organized religion and did not believe in supernatural events such as miracles, the inerrancy of scriptures, or the Trinity.
Russ Hinkle - Deism Guru - will discuss his knowledge and belief on this topic. Strap on for an intense/controversial view regarding GO/No God
Why on earth did an Orthodox priest decide to become a Deist?
In a pre-recorded podcast, the World Union of Deists delivers a lively discussion between host Tim Wingate and the group’s Deputy Director, Jayson, about Jayson's path to Deism.
Jayson is highly-educated in theology and has a deep sense of empathy and compassion for humanity. Not only does he explain why he left his “revealed” religion in order to make a positive and helpful impact in the world around him, but he discusses:
Original sin; Hell; Training children to use reason; Much more.
Although the segment is pre-recorded, you’ll discover that it’s an engaging and interesting conversation. During the scheduled show time, representatives of the World Union of Deists will be available in the web-based chatroom to address your questions and comments.

What is Deism?
In this pre-recorded discussion with Tim Wingate, a World Union of Deists' contact for Minnesota, and Bob Johnson, the founder and director of the World Union of Deists, the basics of Deism are explained. Deists believe in a supreme intelligence and, for those like Bob, believe that evolution is one of the designs of the designer (aka, God).
Sprinkled with humor, Bob and Tim discuss fruit flies, bumper stickers, faith healing, cults, atheism and other topics as they explain the difference between Deism and organized religions, including Freemasonry. A number of the United States' Founding Fathers, most notably Thomas Paine, were Deists. The two provide an excellent discussion about how churches and their doctrines were different from today.
In this podcast, Bob shares why he started the World Union of Deists. Tim and Bob make some important points about the importance of Deism and how they would like to see Deism develop in the future. Bob's vision for the World Union of Deists is both altruistic and educational.
Although the show is pre-recorded, Bob Johnson will open the chatroom and address questions or comments posted there.

In this segment of God Gave Us Reason, Not Religion, an official podcast of the World Union of Deists, the discussion about morality continues. Must you rely on a holy book for morals? Are ethics the exclusive domain of revealed religions?
Jayson X, the deputy director of the World Union of Deists, will explain his Deist-friendly moral system, while entertaining the thoughts on morality from Deist Tim Wingate and callers.
Jayson is basically a Utilitarian. He defines Utilitarianism as the philosophy that teaches that what is good is the action that achieves the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest amount of creatures, especially humans. What is evil is an action that does not.
Whether you agree with Jayson or not (or even if you aren’t sure), he guarantees that you will be entertained and edified by this podcast!

The Atheist says that there is no God. The Deist says that God exists but has no interest in the world he created. In a society full of madness, depravity, insanity and despair – is it more disheartening to believe that there is no God or to know that he exists but has abandoned you? And although many may not be familiar with the word Deism, we assure you that you have heard this unholy Gospel preached through radio, television, movies and every other media. This Doctrine of Devils has one goal – the total removal of God from our lives with humanity condemned to live in a world void of the Judgment, Mercy and Faith which is only by God. Join us today for another installment of From Darkness to Light as we expose this ancient doctrine and its modern day resurgence. We air programs on Blog Talk Radio at the following times: Sun 2:00pm, Mon 8:00pm, Tue 8:00pm, Wed 7:00pm, Thur 8:00pm, Fri 7:00pm & Sat 9:00am. All times are Eastern Standard Time.
Some members of America’s religious right would have us believe that Thomas Jefferson was a Bible-thumping evangelist on a mission to create religious schools, to convert Native Americans into Christians, and to establish a Christian nation. They argue that Jefferson’s famous “wall of separation” letter written in 1802 to the Danbury Baptist Association was simply to stop government from encroaching on religion and had nothing to do with a Christian-run government.
Are the Christian nationalists right?
Jayson, the Deputy Director of the World Union of Deists, will explore what Jefferson really said about religion. For instance, Jefferson did not believe in “the Holy Trinity” and considered parts of the Bible to be nonsense. Jefferson was theologically a Deist who drew upon Christian morals, we will learn.
Deism celebrates reason, not religion. Deists believe in God based on reason, but do not subscribe to “revealed” religions. Join Jayson as he tells us what Deism is really about – and why Jefferson was a Deist, not an evangelical Christian.

What is morality? Why do we need it? Are we born good, evil, or neutral? How is good morality acquired?
Hosts Jayson X and Tim Wingate are trained theologians. Jayson earned a Master of Theology from an Eastern Orthodox Christian seminary and then became an Eastern Orthodox Christian priest. Tim Wingate earned a Doctorate in Theology from a Protestant Christian seminary and was the pastor of two Protestant Christian congregations. They are now Deists who are keenly interested in morality from the Deistic perspective, which does not rely on “revealed” religions but instead bases its belief in God on reason.
Joining them is their guest and fellow Deist, Dr. Henry Jones, author of the book, Psychological Evolution and the Invention of Evil: A Scientific Exposition. For almost 40 years, Dr. Jones interviewed and treated patients suffering mental illness. Over this period, he evaluated and analyzed well over 2,000 psychiatric patients. His book is the result of what he learned from these individuals.
The discussion will show that Deism is a natural and rational religious philosophy that embraces morality. Due to space limits here, please visit the official show page for more information about the topics that will be discussed and book links.

Agnostics, atheists and Deists are all considered freethinkers -- but Jayson X, the Deputy Director of the World Union of Deists, thinks that Deism is the best option. He'll explain why in this segment of God Gave Us Reason, Not Religion.
Deism, agnosticism and atheism are all belief systems, and of the three, Deism is more useful for promoting truth, virtue, and happiness than the others. Of these belief systems, Jayson says that:
Deism is the philosophy that one should base all of one's beliefs on reason and reason leads one to conclude that God exists, or at least probably exists. Agnosticism is the philosophy that one should base all of one's beliefs on reason and reason leads one to conclude that one cannot conclude if God exists or not. Atheism is the philosophy that one should base all of one's beliefs on reason and reason leads one to conclude that God does not exist, or at least probably does not exist.
"Deism promotes virtue more than Agnosticism and Atheism for at least one reason: If God exists, God might reward relatively good humans after death and punish relatively evil humans after death. In other words, if God exists, true justice is likely to exist," Jayson explains. "True justice is when all creatures get exactly what they deserve. Since true justice obviously does not happen before death, it must happen after death for it to exist; and only God has the power to make true justice a reality."
But what if there is no life after death? What if there is no punishment?
Join Jayson and his co-host and fellow Deist, Tim Wingate, as they wade through philosophical ideas about why belief in a God promotes happiness and virtue.

DEISM - THE FAITH OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS. These days, we hear a lot about the United States being a “Christian Nation.” The rationale touted by many holding this belief is that the phrase, “Nature’s God” and the word “Creator” appears in the Declaration of Independence and implies that the Founding Fathers intended America to abide by Christian principles set forth in the Bible.
If not outright Deists, many of our Founding Fathers were strongly influenced by Deism., not Christian nationalism.
So what exactly is Deism? The World Union of Deists has condensed Deism into a catchy one-liner: “God gave us reason, not religion.”
Joining us for the God Discussion Show is Jayson X of The World Union of Deists who will explain more about what Deists believe and how Deism played a role in our history. We’ll take a look at some of the popular culture war issues in the context of Deism.
DOES CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM MEAN THEOCRACY? Adding perspective to the concept of Christian nationalism and its slide into a theocracy, we will be joined by Chris Rodda, author of Liars for Jesus, senior researcher for the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and popular blogger at the Huffington Post and Freethought Blogs.
SPECIAL UPDATE: WHAT'S HAPPENING IN FLORIDA? EllenBeth Wachs' activism put Atheists of Florida in the nation’s public eye. But she and John Kieffer resigned on November 6 from their elected positions as Vice-President and President, respectively. Why? Get the scoop in our 2nd hour.

Hey Free Thinkers - tune in for two excellent guests in our "What is Deism" podcast.
We'll be talking with Jayson, the Deputy Director of the World Union of Deists, and John Armstrong, author of God vs. the Bible and one of three co-organizers of the Louisville Atheists and Freethinkers group. A forgotten "religion," Deism was the spiritual belief of many of the United States' founding fathers. It is based on reason. We'll explore what exactly Deism is, its role in the U.S. Constitution, and issues about the separation of church and state.

Join us and our TransDeist guest, Nick Dutch, for a discussion of mysticism, both through symbolism and experiential mysticism. This will be a very different show, live from London. You may know Nick Dutch from YouTube, where he has posted over 800 videos. Now you can interact with him live on BlogTalkRadio. Deism doesn't mix with New Age thought or the occult, of course, or does it? Drop by and find out! Share in the fun as we push the boundaries of Deism (and perhaps beyond).
