The Needs of our Wildlife Friends
with special Guest Greg Mertz,DVM, The Odd Pet Vet
The nonprofit New England Wildlife Center (the Center) is a grassroots, entrepreneurial venture, launched by a group of Massachusetts’ citizens 33 years ago. They use the provision of humane medical care to orphaned and hurt wild animals as a real-life and engaging platform to teach the life sciences, with a strong focus on biology to provide hands-on training in veterinary medicine to undergraduate students nationally and internationally. At New England Wildlife Center – education is action. The Center hones stewards of wildlife, habitats and natural resources through our facility built to LEED specifications, an onsite nature center and biology classroom, a windowed veterinary hospital where the public can observe first-hand our collective impact on wildlife, and science education curricula proven to increase environmental literacy.
New England Wildlife Center is an example of our ability as a community to come together to solve real problems on our own, without leaving it the government, large institutions or, in other words, “the experts”.
The Wildlife Center owns the Odd Pet Vet, and has for 16 years treated the rare animal commercial veterinary practice.
Greg Mertz, DVM has over twenty-five years experience treating rare wildlife species..
All the proceeds at the New England Wildlife Center go to help with the care of wildlife and the delivery of education programs. They see approximately 60 species of animals on a regular basis. The more common the animal is, the more commonly we see it.
Call into the program, or submit questions on our facebook page and we'll endeavor to answer how you too can support the wildlife in your area.

Join the Hot Mess Express as they break down the Packers' sound defeat of the Minnesota Vikings on the Vikes' home turf. Fat Eddie, PHAT Eddie...either way, Eddie Lacy demonstrated his value by steamrolling defenders and returning to form. Aaron Rodgers is still missing receivers sometimes, and receivers still have the dropsies - but Turtleneck, R Cobb, Janis AND Davante all came through in the clutch. We will break all of this down and more!
