What is Media? What is Media Literacy? What is Media Education?
We began broadcasting in 2009 with Frank Baker as our first guest. Frank Baker, I call my mentor. He is a well-know and renowned media literacy educator. He influenced me and caused me to want to learn and to teach everyone about the influences of media messages that surround them every day. On our first show, Frank talked with me and shared What is Media, What is Media Literacy and Media Education. The show is about learning how to interpret, analyze, understand, and create media messages that surround us all every day.
Today’s show we are going to replay that episode and next week’s episode we will be part of the 1st Annual United States Media Literacy Week.

Few authors can claim to keep millions of readers up at night eagerly foregoing sleep to keep turning the pages like David Baldacci. His novels have been heralded as “gripping,” “spellbinding” and “thrill producing.” Now David has added another soon-to-be bestseller to his already impressive list. In The Guilty, readers reconnect with one of David’s most popular heroes, Will Robie, as he faces unexpected and possibly deadly consequences from decisions made long ago.
If you love a great tale told by a master storyteller, you won’t want to miss learning what this famous author has to share!
Avant is a name that has been used in the context of being original or innovative but the singer/songwriter from Cleveland has transformed the word into a powerhouse brand. Since breaking out on the music scene with his first platinum hit singles, “Separated” and “My First Love”—he has been on a non-stop journey having released seven albums in the last 15 years.
Avant has toured with some of the biggest names in the R&B world from Joe, Jagged Edge and Keith Sweat. He is preparing for the new album release, The VIII in September 2015. This spring he released the debut single from the album, “Special” which is romantic song that breathes new life into love and commitment.
Luke Christopher isn’t about to wait around for anybody. Instead of relying on singers or producers, the Los Angeles rapper can belt out a hook with the best of them, and he remains an accomplished producer and beat maker in his own right. On his two new EPs YSTRDY and TMRW for ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records, his singular vision only starts to unfold, encompassing airtight rhymes, cinematic storytelling, keen wit, and a little bit of wisdom.
Growing up in the San Fernando Valley, music surrounded Luke. At a young age, his father turned him on to the likes of Elton John, U2, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder. However, hip-hop found him one Christmas when 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me sat under the tree. In high school, he converted the bottom bed of his bunk beds into a makeshift studio. There, he taught himself how to rap, sing, and compose beats. By his seventeenth birthday, he was ready to be properly heard, and major labels clamored for this strangely soulful and emotionally expansive style.
One of the brightest young stars in Texas makes his way back to the show. David Stahr has been pleasing fans all over the Houston area with his unique style. He will update us on all that he's been doing and what he has coming up in the near future. We had a blast with him in his previous visit and await the next one anxiously.
