Saint? Missionary? Scientist? Explorer?
The titles applied to David Livingstone since his death are eclectic enough to seem dubious, and with good reason. In view of his own journals, saint is out of the question; even missionary is problematic when one considers his conversion record. But despite his fame as a scientist and explorer, titles he certainly earned, these were not the fields through which Livingstone left his most indelible mark on Africa.
Somehow, his impact on abolishing what he called "this awful slave-trade" continues to be overlooked as the centerpiece of his African mission.
The Daring Heart of David Livingstone is Livingstone’s story told in full, from the beginning of his time in Africa to the legislation that saved millions after his death.
His contribution to abolition, and particularly the Christian faith that fueled his efforts, have been overlooked in the public record for too long. This is David Livingstone’s untold story.

Executive director David Morrissey, MPS the US International Council on Disabilities will speak about‘Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities CRPD) and the importance of it to all people with disabities now in 2014!
The United States signed the CRPD in 2009. On December 4, 2012 the United States Senate considered the ratification of the CRPD but fell 5 votes short of the super majority vote required. The media coverage of the Senate’s failure to ratify the disability treaty has been overwhelming and the CRPD’s Senate leaders remain committed to bringing the disability treaty up in the 113th Congress.
What is the “Disability Treaty?”
The Disability Treaty (known as the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,“CRPD”) is an international treaty that was inspired by U.S. leadership in recognizing the rights of people with disabilities. Why should the Senate vote for ratification?
The Senate needs to fight for the 57.8 million Americans with disabilities, 5.5 million disabled American veterans, and the 1 billion people with disabilities around the world and vote to ratify the CRPD.
Who supports ratification of the disability treaty?
Ratification of the CRPD is supported by hundreds of disability organizations, civil rights groups, faith organizations, veterans groups, and major business groups including the Chamber of Commerce.
If you are not acquainted with the genius and the greatness of Mary Lou Williams, please let us introduce you to one of the most amazing figures in Jazz history. Pianist, Arranger and Composer, Mary Lou was beloved by MANY - including Duke Ellington. He couldn't say enough about her style and the person behind it. Ms. Williams wrote hundreds of compositions, arranged for the prestigious male bandleaders of her day (remember those times - a WOMAN arranging? A WOMAN having that kind of influence?!) and was both friend and mentor to Monk, Miles, Parker and Gillespie.
Known as "The Little Piano Girl of East Liberty" (Pittsburgh), Mary Lou was self-taught and performed in public for the first time at age six. Her confidence never wavered through the years and she came to the attention of those who appreciated her strong skills and positive personality. One that landed on WNEW in New York City - as a broadcaster with a popular show.
So MUCH to say about Mary Lou - and no one can say it better than CAROL BASH. She is the director and producer of "Mary Lou Williams: The Lady Who Swings The Band." This noble endeavor is an IndieGoGo project that is looking to fulfill its mission by October 28th! There are important movers and shakers involved in this film who LOVE Jazz and LOVE the subject of this labor of love. You'd recognize the names - and we'll drop them when Carol visits on 10/21 at one p.m. Eastern time.
You'll hear about the musican and spiritual evolution of Mary Lou - she converted to Roman Catholicism later in life - and it colored her world in a way that surprised even herself. Maybe inspired by that journey, she said: "Jazz is love - you have to lay into it and let it flow." Join us in The Chat Room on 10/21!
This govt. can't even secure one building with hundreds of highly-trained agents . . . How the hell do we think they can secure the entire country.
I think we've seen the answer to that the last few years and especially the last few weeks!
Tune in every weeknight at 8:00pm to 10:00pm to hear The Captain unlock his treasure chest of opinions and ideas, facing all matters of Constitutional Freedom.
