In 2011, UMass formally announced they elevated their football program to the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, becoming a member of the Mid-American Conference that started this season. The Minutemen have struggled going 0-3 but playing two Big Ten teams. Umass football took on a big spotlight at the professional level with the success of Victor Cruz of the New York Giants who played his college football with the Minutemen. Four-year starter at free safety entering 2012, Darren Thellen is looking to make the same impact when his collegiate career nears its end later this year. After their week two game against Indiana, Thellen was named Umass Athlete of the Week by the Umass Sport Luncheon Committee and College Football Performance Award after a team high 11 tackles (9 solo), one interception returned 21 yards and a pass break-up. Thellen led all Umass defensive backs with 68 tackles last year and is poised to do the same in 2012.

Even for someone born with the comedic gene, going through life’s up's and down's can be no joking matter. For Darren Lacroix, little did he know the night he decided to live out his comedic passion on stage performing at an open mic night; that not only would he have a disastrous performance, but that it would change his life forever. He attributes that fateful night as being the beginning of one of the greatest lessons he has learned, the importance of stage time. The ability to recognize how vital stage time is, it allowed Darren to transform into a World Champion of Public Speaking, which he won in 2001. The caveat in all of this is that Darren is still able to use his love of humor to impress upon inspiring messages to audiences all over the world. Please join us as Darren Lacroix offers D44 Talk Radio some radio time prior to the stage time he is scheduled to give at this year’s District 44 Spring Conference. Show Host: Dawn Kamara, ACG, ALB.
Psychologists generally define forgiveness as a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness.
Just as important as defining what forgiveness is, though, is understanding what forgiveness is not. Experts who study or teach forgiveness make clear that when you forgive, you do not gloss over or deny the seriousness of an offense against you. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting, nor does it mean condoning or excusing offenses. Though forgiveness can help repair a damaged relationship, it doesn’t obligate you to reconcile with the person who harmed you, or release them from legal accountability.
Instead, forgiveness brings the forgiver peace of mind and frees him or her from corrosive anger. While there is some debate over whether true forgiveness requires positive feelings toward the offender, experts agree that it at least involves letting go of deeply held negative feelings. In that way, it empowers you to recognize the pain you suffered without letting that pain define you, enabling you to heal and move on with your life. Join Dr. Darren as together we dive into the healing power of forgiveness.

Grief is a normal and natural response to loss. Though we often expect to grieve the death of a family member or friend, many other significant losses can also trigger grief. Examples include:
The end of a relationship
A move to a new community
A much-anticipated opportunity or life goal is suddenly closed to us
The death of a pet
Someone we love contracts a potentially life-threatening illness
Grieving such losses is important because it allows us to ‘free-up’ energy that is bound to the lost person, object, or experience—so that we might re-invest that energy elsewhere. Until we grieve effectively we are likely to find reinvesting difficult; a part of us remains tied to the past.
Grieving is not forgetting. Nor is it drowning in tears. Healthy grieving results in an ability to remember the importance of our loss—but with a newfound sense of peace, rather than searing pain. Join Dr. Darren as he guides us into the Heart of the Matter of the role our subconscious mind plays with Healthy Grieving. Infinite Love & Gratitude!

Tonight, Pop Art Painter Jamie Roxx (www.JamieRoxx.us) welcomes March To May’s Darren Guyaz & Beth Wesche to the Show.
March To May’s Darren Guyaz (guitar, vocals, keyboard) and Beth Wesche (Celtic harp, vocals) first met in December 2012. By March 2013, the folk/indie/Americana duo had co-written their first two songs, by April they had a paid gig under their belts, and by May they had a name and shows booked out into the months ahead. Before settling in Seattle, Washington, where the act is now based, both Darren and Beth had traversed the Western Hemisphere separately. Darren migrated from the northern Appalachians to his birth-state of Montana, before heading on a South American adventure across the Andes mountain range, eventually falling in love with Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. The daughter of a US Foreign Service Officer, Beth also spent time in the Andes, as well as a host of US states on both coasts, before moving to Seattle, just blocks from where her beloved Celtic harp had been created, years before. The duo has drawn comparisons to acts like The Civil Wars, Damien Rice, the Swell Season, The Banner Days, and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.
