If you're a fan of white-hot jazz funk and passionate, seductive jazz grooves that start and keep a fire burnin', Minneapolis saxman Danny Kusz has what you need. His new release Sexy.Funk :: Velvet.Jazz comes after a long hiatus for the saxman following his smokin' 5-track EP Lost in the Groove. Join us (Smooth Conversations host Ron Jackson and co-hosts Aira & Mike -- all from The Smooth Jazz Ride) as we chat it up with Danny and play tracks from his sizzling new release. Bring your questions and comments for him, as well as your dancin' shoes!
Please join host Frankie Picasso on Thursday, December 4th at 1:00 pm EST, when she greets guests Danny Brooks and his wife Lil Debi, who for past 24 years have been active in prison ministry.
Danny has been in the music business since 1971 having played in blues, country, hard rock and rhythm and blues bands but his first introduction to ministry was with his father, who took Danny and his siblings, a sister and brother to the street corners of Toronto and had them recite scripture verses.
A"rough life and a 'season of rebellion' found Danny on the downslide. As it was with so many young musicians during the 70's and 80's, the drug culture captured Danny's attention and he found himself doing time in prison for the crimes committed to pay for his addictions to drugs and alcohol. It was during this time spent in prison that Danny attributes to his skill in writing music.
In 1987, just 3 months from being released from the Donwood Institute in Toronto where he was treated for alcohol and drug addiction, Danny came to his faith.
1991,was a good year for Danny. Not only did he become involved in Prison Ministry but he was also nominated for the Juno Award for Most Promising Male Vocalist.
Danny has been blessed with a big talent and a distinctive voice, and one thing is for sure, he is a BORN STORY TELLER.
Performing and speaking in Prisons, Rehabs and Halfway Houses has become an important part of who Danny Brooks has become. Whenever, and where ever Danny tours, it is imperative that at least one of the above facilities is on the tour. Giving back to communities in this way allows him to share his story, and impart hope for eternity in Christ.
Hitchcock stars Danny Huston and James D'Arcy join host Robin Milling to discuss their roles in the film, which goes behind the scenes during the making of Pyscho.
Huston plays Whitfield Cook, the screenwriter who will do anything to get Hitch to make his movie. Danny tells Robin he can relate to the mythic legend of Alfred Hitchcock as his father John, also a legendary director lived a man vs. myth lifestyle. He particularly enjoyed filming a dream sequence of the infamous shower scene with Helen Mirren as Alma Reville and Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock.
James D'Arcy plays Anthony Perkins, whose resemblance is uncanny to the late star of Pyscho. He tells Robin for once he was grateful to look like Perkins with a little extra help of colored contac lenses and hair dye. He says they were alot more wearable than the oversized contacs he wore playing the old man in Cloud Atlas.
Next Huston continues his role as Ben Diamond aka the Butcher in Magic City and promises to deliver even more deliciously dark insanity. D'Arcy will play a forensic psychologist in a pilot for A&E called Those Who Kill, but is very cagey about who the serial killer will be.

Join Dr. Cheryl Cottle and her guest Dr. Apostle Irene Huston on Women in Business Radio on Monday 8 September as she continues the segment that looks at how one's chronological age can be different from their biological age within the conext of our health and well-being and its impact on how the health and fitness of women in business affect their well-being and balance. It is a struggle for many women who strive daily to maintain a healthy balance, so the question, is, is it achievable? We can also ask the question, does it requires a woman with particular attributes to have her biological age out weighing her chronological age? After making the call for guest on my Women in Business Radio Show, Dr. Cottle happens to observe on her profile page on Facebook that Dr. Apostle Irene Huston had recently celebrated a birthday and the photographs that she shared looked so great, that it forced her to look twice to confirm her age. They were her photographs taken recently when she celebrated her birthday. Dr. Cottle thought that she should contact her to invite her as a guest. Dr. Huston agreed to be on her show.
Dr. Cheryl Cottle was drawn to the topic after reading and seeing a photograph of 4 women taken in 1916 in Washington D.C at the "Convention of Former Slaves." They were age 104, 105, 110 and 125 year old. (Source: Harris & Ewing Collection/Library of Congress) "They looked quite fit physically and to be a part of an audience that celebrated the emancipation of slavery, reflect that they were also mentally sound" she said on seeing the photograph. This information caused Dr. Cottle to ask the question, what is responsible for these women's health and longevity? And are women today able to achieve longevity?
Jumah: Imam Basil Abdullah Masjid Taleem Muhammad Huston Tx is this weeks obligated congregational services of Muslims.
[62:10] O you who believe! when the call is made for Prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah, and leave off all business. That is better for you, if you only knew.
[62:11] And when the Prayer is finished, then disperse in the land and seek of Allah’s grace, and remember Allah much, that you may prosper.
[62:12] But when they see some merchandise or some amusement, they break for it, and leave you standing. Say, ‘That which is with Allah is better than amusement and merchandise, and Allah is the Best Provider.’
