Talking in Circles: Lugs Nuts, Tony Stewart, Richmond Review, Talladega Preview

    in Sports

On this episode of Talking in Circles, we break down the weekend that was at Richmond International Raceway. Carl Edwards moved Kyle Busch out of the way on the final lap to win his 27th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

Was that the correct move for Carl? Should Kyle invoke some revenge?

We'll give our Attaboys and surprises and talk about the points. Who is in danger of missing the Chase?

Also we'll discuss the news of the week: NASCAR has instituted a new lug nut rule starting this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. We'll give our thoughts on that and talk about how NASCAR can police this.

Plus Tony Stewart was fined $35k for comments about lug nuts, then NASCAR instutites the rule. Should NASCAR revoke the fine and how bad does the sport look. What made Stewart made those comments and why did the Driver's Council pay the fine?

Several media members have complained about Tony Stewart being eligable for the win at Talladega, even though he's gonna have a subsitute driver. We'll discuss our feelings on that.

Plus, it's going to be a wild weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. We'll preview the double-header weekend and take your phone calls at 917-889-8280.

Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey - with Damien Escobar!

    in Music

Our beautiful guest with his soaring skills was born in the Jamaica/Queens neighborhood of New York City.  On violin at eight, he was playing Mozart the next year.  At ten, he became the youngest student to be accepted into Julliard!  He graduated when he was 13 :)

Damien and his brother worked as street musicians at Grand Central Station and at subway stops.  In 2003, they had the opportunity to become "legit" - and called themselves Nuttin' But Strings.  They grew to be a VERY hot commodity, winning at the Apollo and taking third place on "America's Got Talent."  During these years, Damien also had the good fortune of being in he film, "Step Up."

After several years of success, the brothers realized that creative differences were pulling them apart - so they disbanded the unit.  Damien immersed himself in real estate - but that siren call of music was too strong.  Two years ago, he made his solo debut with "Sensual Melodies."  That took off better than he anticipated and only whetted his appetite for further exploring multiple genres.

What's so extra wonderful about this young man is his intent to give back.  Damien is involved in a myriad of charitable work, including UNICEF and his childhood YMCA.  He is also the founder of Violins Against Violence - and has focused on children by authoring a book called "The Sound of Strings."

This Emmy Award-winning musical messenger has a new album on the way - called "Boundless."  And a tour is set in conjuntion with the new work.  You mention the name Damien Escobar to MANY - and there's a sharp intake of breath.  His talent is like THAT.  It's as though the planets aligned when he was born in 1988.  His fans will tell you that!

Our show starts at ONE p.m. Eastern.  Damien at TWO :)
