These are just a few things that describe Ray Lawrence Jr. Music has been a major part of Ray's life and music is the one thing thing that has helped him to survive. Ray has many experiences that give him the ideas for the songs he writes and he thinks about those things he went through as he performs his songs. Even the cover songs he does of other artists are songs that have meaning for him. A song must mean something to sing it right so feeling can be put into it and this is what you will hear and feel when Ray Lawrence Jr. performs a song. The idea is to help you heal through the music and for you to have a song to help you feel better.
Ray Lawrence Jr was born the oldest of 8 children in Chicago, IL. July 4, 1963 and was raised in Southern California, 3 hours south of Bakersfield. Ray began his music career at age 5, singing in school plays and later learned to play guitar and learnied other instruments. Having a father from Texas who was a lover of country music and bluegrass and being raised in what was back in the 60's, a hot bed for country music, Ray was in a good position to be influenced by artists like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Buck Owens, Lester flat and Earl Scruggs, The Dillards, AKA The Darlings when they were on The Andy Griffith Show, Hee Haw, The Beverley Hillbillies, The Johnny Cash Show and The Glen Campbell show. Foodie Network Host, Lawrence Taplin, Comes to Chat!
I enjoy cooking with my friends and family, but I also love finding new and exciting restaurants that take me back to feeling like I’m home that I can share with others.
I created Big Eats Small Spots out of my love for food and entertaining, but also to help others find great spots to eat. My show is unique in that it is a “live” restaurant directory giving people a visual of the atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant, they get to know the owners or chefs, and they can see the wonderful food choices in order to make a more informative decision for the best place to dine. This idea was born out of continually being asked, “Where is a good place to eat?” when I worked as a Seattle tour bus driver. I wanted to recommend places to my passengers but take it one step further and create a way for them to see these restaurants and delicious food for themselves in a video online. When I ran this idea by my passengers, they’d always say, “I wish you had that before I came to visit here!”, and I knew then it would be a hit and would fill a need not found online today. We are also planning a spinoff called, “Big Eats Small Adventures” that we’re really excited about. This show, produced and hosted by Lawrence Taplin, will feature the new fad of food trucks that are invading cities all across America. Lawrence will give impromptu interviews with the owners and chefs and talk about the food they offer and where you can find them. With Lawrence’s charm, engaging personality, and his love for food, this show is sure to be fun, entertaining, and informative!

Guest Interview with Lawrence Matsuda
Lawrence Matsuda was born in the Minidoka, Idaho War Concentration Center during World War II. Matsuda has a Ph.D. in education from the University of Washington and was: a secondary teacher, university counselor, state level administrator, school principal, assistant superintendent, educational consultant, and visiting professor at Seattle University. In 2005 he and two SU colleagues co-edited the book Community and difference: teaching, pluralism and social justice, Peter Lang Publishing, New York. It won the 2006 National Association of Multicultural Education Phillip Chinn Book Award. In July of 2010 his book of poetry entitled, A Cold Wind from Idaho was published by Black Lawrence Press in New York. His poems appear in Ambush Review, Raven Chronicles, New Orleans Review, Floating Bridge Review, Black Lawrence Press website, Poets Against the War website, Malpais Review, Plumepoetry, Seattle Journal for Social Justice and Cerise Press. His volunteer experiences include: President University of Washington Alumni Association Board of Trustees, Co-founder Multi-cultural Alumni Partnership, Washington State Liquor Board Wine Tasting Committee member, Chair of the Seattle University Japanese American Remembrance Garden, and trustee for Cornish College of the Arts.

As an American I have experienced the changes in this country that frankly have citizens of all ages disenfranchised about the direction this country is taking politically. The slow agonizing erosion of morals, values and Christian religious freedom should be a priority and a form of disaster control for all Americans. But to do so first the people need to completely understand the years of conservative silence that attributed to this spiritual decay. Years after I served my country with the Army Corp of Engineers, I found myself compelled to write a book pointing out to the reader where and why America went wrong which started most of the deep rooted problems. America should face the Dragon of Liberalism and truly understand what actually politically transpired in the 1960s. These ideas used in this book are spoken from a war veterans point of view as it pertains to the political hoax portrayed on the people that has not been faced, once understood it will light a new way of the future.
