Cen-Cal Pro Radio - "50 SHADES OF GREEN"

    in Wrestling

Cen-Cal Pro Radio is back, in PRIME TIME!! Breaking into the top slot for Wednesday Night Radio. Tonight on the show.. against the better judgement of the of the production staff, and the wiser wishes of the IT department... we are brave enough to unleash Diskord willfully over the airwaves. This is not an act of terrorism, although many listeners will be harmed in the process. The Cyberpunk Diskord has been quite the electrical disturbance since his arrival in the Indy Pro Scene, and it's no surprise when he got word of Cen-Cal Pro's landing, he'd cyber-hack his way in just like he would anywhere else. The difference here, is Cen-Cal left the front door unlocked, with a "We Welcome Diskord" sign on it. No hack necessary... And for the first time, a fast one was pulled on Diskord! Join host Jimmy Ray tonight as most certainly will have the fast ones pulled on him interviewing an "Old Radio Friend" of his. We also didn't tell Jimmy Ray he'd be doing this until oooooh just about NOW'ish. Suprises should be for EVERYONE! Live from the 805, Cen-Cal Pro Radio is ABOUT to go down!

    Guilty Pleasures of Writing

    in Writing

In this episode of Write Pack Radio, the Write Pack explores the various guilty pleasures that they have (or at least admit to the world) in writing. Do writers write their guilty pleasures? Are there books that writers read that they wouldn’t normally admit to in public?

What are some of the guilty pleasures writers indulge in while writing? Like—writing in the bathtub, like a famous French mystery writer claimed to do. Who? You will have to listen.

What about snacking as you write? Drinking and drinking what?

What about spending so much on social media instead of writing?

Is it a guilty pleasure if you are not guilty about it?

What about campy vampires? “Fakepires”? Bad Fic? Snarky fiction and fiction that doesn’t take itself serious?

Is it true David Alan Lucas was given the nick name “Castle” because of his guilty pleasure?

What about guilty writing rituals? What about guilty rewards for milestones you reach?

Authors Tony Bowman and Henderson Smith

    in Books

Tony Bowman writes Horror, Sci-Fi, & Thrillers. His first novel, Vales Hollow, published in early 2014, a thriller set in rural Pennsylvania follows the exploits of a mercenary team on the run from the CIA trying to fit into small town life while posing as a normal family. It's been described as "Grindhouse Popcorn meets Cyberpunk Romance". At its heart, it explores the necessity of sociopaths in modern society. In late spring 2014, he published a post apocalyptic horror novel, Turning the Darkness. Set in a world overrun by a demonic invasion, the book details the struggle of the protagonists to turn back the invasion and save the remnants of humanity. It will followed by a series of novels set after the invasion called Valkyrie. His latest novel, Nine Fingers, releasing in late September by Dark Alley Publishing and is about werewolves in modern day Bedford, Virginia. A lead-in novella, Nine Fingers: The Tucson Ripper, will be available on his blog: http:\\thattonybowman.blogspot.com.

Henderson Smith is an award-winning screenplay writer with a deep love of fairytales. Her debut book, The Ugly Princess, is based on the screenplay of the same name, which won numerous screenplay awards, including the Adult/Family Screenplay Competition Award in the 2001 Austin Film Festival. A compelling, unusual fairytale that puts a new twist on an age-old theme, The Ugly Princess tells a story not often told, showing how judgmental people can be regarding appearances, and ultimately speaks to the beauty within. Henderson dedicates The Ugly Princess to all the young girls who stand on the sidelines wishing they too could be beautiful, in the hopes that they will find in her work the encouragement to open their eyes to their own magic and realize how beautiful they truly are and the power they already yield.

Scottscope Talk Radio 4/26/2014: Enter The Matrix!

    in Entertainment

On this week’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, we’ll be celebrating the 15th anniversary of The Matrix!  Has it stood the test of time?  Can it truly be considered a watershed film on par with the original Star Wars?  Is it truly the Wachowskis single best film?  Is it nothing more than a polished amalgamation of wuxia films, heroic bloodshed, cyberpunk, anime, and manga?  Did the Wachowskis basically steal their ideas from Sophia Stewart?   Did they simply plagiarize writer Grant Morrison’s comic series The Invisibles?  Has the film’s influence truly been a lasting one?  Can The Matrix be considered a loving tribute to Hong Kong Action cinema, or just a cheap imitation of it?  Can the Wachowski’s ever return to their former glory?  Should the saga of Neo continue?

We’ll also talk about the sex abuse allegations currently being made towards filmmaker Bryan Singer.  If Michael Egan’s prove to be true, could they spell the end of Bryan Singer’s career?  What impact would it have on Hollywood as a whole?  Just how deep could the proverbial rabbit whole go?  Could Amy Berg’s upcoming documentary on child sexual abuse in Hollywood be a feature- length indictment of Singer and his ilk?  Is this whole scandal nothing more than an anti-gay witch-hunt?  What could this mean for X-Men: Days of Future Past and the X-Men franchise in general?  Could a full-on backlash be imminent?

    #035- Blair Renaud (Technolust)

    in Video Games

I'm not one for hyperbole, but Technolust may just be the killer app for the Oculus Rift. Throwing players into a cyberpunk world not so far into the future, Technolust is inspired by the best in cyberpunk fiction such as Deus Ex, Blade Runner, Total Recall, Neuromancer, and more, Technolust may be the game sci-fi and cyberpunk fanatics alike have been dreaming about for decades.

My guest this week, Blair Renaud, has made believers out of almost everyone that listens to what he has in store for players. Hot off of a successful Kickstarter campaign, Renaud and his team received double the amount they needed. If you are interested in virtual reality, anything cyberpunk, or just really awesome games (and I know you are), this is an episode you won't want to miss!

Hosted by Dusty Wright, Game Academy Radio is the official weekly radio show of GameAcademy.com.
