It is no secret that as a child you will encounter a bully at least once, in some kind of way...whether you witness someone being picked on, whether you were the bully, or whether you were the victim, none of us are strangers to the reality of this. However, the level of verbal and physical torment that children are facing in the school system today has become mind blowing, with little to nothing being done to curb it-before the damage is done. Did you know that approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying, and bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University?? We have lost too many children to violence and suicide, and it's time we bring attention to this problem, and do something about it now!
"When Sh** Gets Real" will be having Special Guest, Mr. Kirk Smalley, founder of Stand For The Silent (https://www.facebook.com/SFTSorg). Mr. Smalley lost his son, Ty Smalley, in 2010 as a result of bullying, and has agreed to grace us with his presence to share his family's story, info about his organization, and tips for children and parents who may be facing some of the issues he and his son were.
We welcome parents and children to call in and ask questions, or share your own stories...this affects all of us.
Whether in our workplace, in our personal lives or with our wonderful kids, bullying can tragically change how we see ourselves. Check out my next radio show about laws and cyber bullying in schools. I discuss strategies any of us can use with our children and even at work to overcome obstacles that inevitably get in our way in life. As a person with Cerebral Palsy, I had to find ways to overcome, especially when I was younger. Such methods you can use now and teach your kids...

Many parents face this battle (along with adults themselves) with results leading to depression, insecurity, and even in some cases, suicide. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed and tonight on "It's Real Talk Radio", The Panel will be doing just that. If you, your children, a friend or loved one has been a victim of Cyber Bullying, feel free to share your story with us.

Some people think bullying only applies to kids, since this is where most of the emphasis is put in public education. "Vulnerable Groups" such as those with disabilities, are now being recognized as people, who are just as deeply effected by mean spirited harrassment. Tonight we'll be discussing what consitutues cyber bullying, and what you can do if you believe you've ben a victim of this kind of abuse. Guest, Brian Craig is a Staff Attorney at Disability Rights Nebraska. He
Join us as we talk to Merlyn Horton on the issue of cyber-security and internet usage when dealing with kids. We will try to get author Paula Todd to talk about her book: extreme mean.
Liam Johnson returns to the show with a new science segment, and all our usual jazz..
Tonight is going to blow your minds with steps to take against Cyber Bullying and other topics that are a little too hot to handle..We will give you advice and tips how to handle things when sometimes you don't know how to.
This show is to identify the bullies without mentioning names. We can all explain how we have been bullied and the effects it has on us. I think this is pure nonsense and Romper Room style. There is a difference between bullying and calling people out. These people have no concideration of your feelings or anything else that is going on. If you or someone you know has been bullied please call in to express your feelings.
