" Miguelito" back from
Move over, Justin Bieber - Miguelito is all grown up and ready to become the next big teen idol.
Okay, he's still only 14. But Miguelito, who became a singing sensation in his native Puerto Rico at just 7 years old, is currently preparing to release his eighth album, "Here To Stay" - his first English-language CD.
"The new project is really different so fans will be amazed," he says.
"My last seven albums were more merengue, bachata, reggaeton and salsa. But on this new album we're going to have more party songs, starting with the first single, 'Swaggin.' "
Miguelito proved he had swag even as a baby-face youngster. He's the youngest person to win a Latin Grammy - at the tender age of nine- for Best Latin Children's Album in 2008.
"When I started singing, one of my first goals was to win a Grammy," says Miguelito, whose real name is Miguel A. Valenzuela Morales.
"That's the best award you can get in the music business. So when I won, it only made me realize that I have to keep on working more and more."
And he's not just a singer, he's also a businessman. Miguelito has launched a clothing line, Heir, as well as branded his name for hair gel products and even kids' vitamins.
"Right now it's all about the music and I want to be the best artist that I can be," he said.
Chris Standring’s got a little piece of advice for fans checking out his latest – and for sure his funkiest ever – collection on Ultimate Vibe Recordings: don’t talk, Dance!
Continuing to find fresh, dynamic ways to break new ground in contemporary jazz 16 years after seducing us with his debut album Velvet, the versatile composer, guitarist and producer lets the groove – along with his loyal archtop Benedetto and Fender Stratocaster - do all the conversing on a set that bridges old school R&B/soul-jazz with a trippy, soundscape rich, ultra-contemporary electronica vibe. Taking yet another dramatic and spirited left turn four years after his critically acclaimed classical/jazz set Blue Bolero redefined his and the genre’s creative boundaries, the versatile guitarist and composer – amping up to 120 bpm on most cuts - goes deep with his love for Euro-styled drum/bass driven chill, progressive dance music, ambient trance, electronic dance music (EDM) and even dubstep.

Victor Cegarra works with a variety of artists, musicians, recording, performing in concerts at small and large venues in the USA as well as abroad. Born in Venezuela, at the age of 7, Victor studied the "cuatro" (a Venezuelan guitar with only 4 strings) Later, he studied guitar basics for some time and moved on to his first piano lessons at the age of 9. At age 13 he went yet to Lino Gallardo National Conservatory of Music to study complementary piano. Once in college, his piano instructors, Olegario Diaz and Marcus Vinicio da Fonceca introduced Cegarra to jazz and Brazilian music. Other Latin styles were self-taught as he was an avid listener of salsa, cumbia, merenge and other popular genres. The next few years Victor became involved with other musicians and performed a variety of styles ranging from American Pop, Latin, and Jazz. After performing, recording, and some light touring, he shared his knowledge of music by educating others. First, as a piano instructor for the Torrance Dept of Parks & Recreation, teaching children and adults. Later, as a regular Elementary School Teacher for the LA Unified School District where he has been teaching since July 1998. In June 2001 Cegarra obtained a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from The California State University at Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. In early 2003 he partnered with Gilberto Torres and released his first solo project a piano and flute duo, performing traditional Venezuelan tunes with influences of Jazz and Classical Styles called “Venezuela Desde Afuera” Today, you will find Victor Cegarra performing alongside well known and talented Cuban singer Candi Sosa, also with Gilberto Torres and other LA Musicians, performing in concerts, private events, clubs and restaurants while continuing to produce and record music at his home studio.
So many of us have looked forward to this interview - for a number of reasons. For yours truly, it's an opportunity to delve into a talent who is considered both cerebral and passionate. Intuitive, creative, motivated both acoustically and electrically. What Chris Standring has given to us by way of his guitar has stirred us in ways that we may not be able to articulate. One of those songs, "Blue Bossa".was at the top of the Contemporary Jazz chart for nine
