The New Age Cults
by God Discussion in Religion
Tags: New Age cults mystery schools channeling ancient aliens past lives
Are New Age cults a healthy alternative to the old religious dogmas or are they just another spiritual trap? From so-called “channeling,” to “energy healing” to “mystery schools,” the New Age offers a smorgasbord of alternative spiritual theories and practices that are supposed to enlighten and empower – appealing to people recovering from abusive faiths.
Is it safe to just jump in, or should you test the waters of each to find what is right for you? New Age cults, it seems, are infiltrating just about every aspect of life, from canonical religion to the quantum sciences. Tucked in between these realms are ancient aliens, the lost continents of Atlantis and Lemuria where people screwed up in past lives, and great big huge giants who have left their imprint on world affairs.
Join us as we explore the cultish beliefs of the New Age.~~~Rob Robinson's World Cult Watch airs every Sunday night on the God Discussion network. Please visit GodDiscussion.net for our upcoming show schedules, and learn more about cults at WorldCultWatch.org. This and other shows are brought to you by GodDiscussion.com, featuring daily religious and church/state news and commentary. -

Women abused by religion and cults
by God Discussion in Religion
Tags: cults Narconon Scientology David Love post traumatic stress syndrome
Women have suffered all kinds of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse in the name of religion. Host Collen Sautez asks, “Is it a surprise that these practices carry on even today?”
The first episode of “The X-Women Show” lands on Father’s Day Weekend, so Colleen has invited a father – and an activist – to be her first guest.
Over the past decade, David Love has become famous for his media work in exposing Narconon, the “drug rehab” campaign that is based on Scientology teachings. Colleen and David will be talking about Narconon and the steps of mind-control. They will also touch on how healing can and does take place, even in the aftermath of horrible experiences, and how to relieve the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Colleen invites you to share your stories about women you know and love who were harmed in the name of religion.

Don’t commit mental suicide! A look at cults and toxic faith
by God Discussion in Religion
Tags: spiritual abuse Cindy Kunsman Robert Robinson cults religious extremism
Is it possible to have a healthy faith? Cynthia Kunsman says yes. It’s from Cindy that we’ve coined the title, “Don’t commit mental suicide!”
A survivor of many years of spiritual abuse at the hands of the remnants of an aberrant Evangelical Christian group, Cindy points out that Romans 6:14 states, “You are not under law, but under grace.” Characteristics of what makes a cult, how brainwashing is achieved, and what constitutes spiritual abuse are just some of the topics she addresses at Under Much Grace – a webite also dedicated to healing from spiritual abuse.
Cindy is a nurse (RN, BSN), naturopath (ND) and seminary graduate (MMin). Most of her professional efforts concern the study of manipulative and coercive evangelical Christian groups, the recovery process from thought reform, and PTSD associated with such involvement.
Robert Robinson is very popular with ex-Scientologists for his work in supporting those who leave Scientology. He has recently launched World Cult Watch. Rob was heavily involved with Scientology from 1988 to 1995, where he served in various executive positions. His site offers insight about various cults’ teachings, delivers hard hitting stories about problems involving abusive, authoritarian cults, and aims to provide comfort for ex-cult members struggling with guilt, grief, anger and other emotions associated with spiritual abuse.
