We probably see it everyday but do we really put any deep thought into it? We have not one but two White mothers of Black children to share with us their challenges, issues, triumphs and disappointments of raising their biracial children. These two women are Patty Candell and Leah Wagner and they are gonna put us onto a perspective that is rarely considered by the browner side of us. Well, maybe it is considered but other shows don't have the balls to do it like Urban Therapy with SUN will.
Do we care about their challenges? Are we aware of their challenges? Do we consider the way that they raise children who look like us to be the same way that we raise our children? Do they feed their kids the same things that we eat? How do they deal with disciplining their children? Is it all calm talk, reasoning and time outs?
How do they do their daughter's hair? Where do they get their son's hair cut? What happens when their children ask what race they are and why mommy and daddy look so different? What happens when deeper cultural, heritage and identity questions and issues arise should they come up? How do White mothers deal with their children's peer pressure to date, dress, talk and act BLACK so to speak? What happens if they talk WHITE?
How does the White mother handle the looks and stares that some may give when they go to register their children for school or when they have to interact with other parents who have not been in interracial relationships and may be negatively judgemental about this?
On this show we will hear firsthand the way that a White woman feels when she is around Black women who may feel some kind of way about them "taking" their Black men and if that is even the case?
Please join us Sunday 10AM CST/11AM EST as we discuss negative, racist black stereotypes and the people who perpetuate them.
We will discuss the brilliant article written by Raina in depth.
Why is it acceptable in the secular community when negative stereotypes and caricatures of the black community (religious and otherwise) are presented to them?
Is it acceptable if black atheists perpetuate the stereotypes while attempting to pathologize the community that they claim that they want to help?
Is speaking at all white conferences considered activism nowadays?
Are black atheists silence on issues of racism, social justice, sexism, etc. being purchased with the promises of speaking engagements, etc.?
This and more on Sunday.

If you're anything like me then you think that you know a Black person when you see one and you know a white person when you see one right? But do you? Are you sure? Are you always sure? The truth is that Black people come in so many different shades of dark and light that it's not always as easy as trusting your eyesight. You can be easily identifiably Black by being dark with kinky hair and other features but you can also be blonde haired with blue eyes with straight hair like Laurin Crosson has.
Do you think that because you have the features of a white person that you will automatically enjoy white privilege? Watch what Lairin has to say about that.
Do you think that because you can pass for being white that that would automatically be what a person would choose to be? See what Laurin has to say about that.
Do white people always accept a person who is visibly white as their own? Ask Laurin.
Would the Black community embrace a person that looks white as one of their own or would they scrutinize and write a person like that as a fraud? See what Laurin's experiences have been.
This show will be a lesson about acceptance and identification. About learning that what you see isn't always what you get. About learning how and where to fit in and be comfortable despite being different.
This is about learning how to make it against the color complexion odds from a different perspective than we are used to hearing it from.
Most of all this show will be about what being Black or white means vs how it plays out in real life.
This show is sure to please.

We have all heard the bad news about Black economics. From high unemployment rates to low income rates it seems like there is no end to problems, but there are very little solutions. That is what we are going to talk about tonight. How do we put this ship back on course? How do we turn around our communities to make them places where we want to live?

There are tons of discussions about feminism but very few black people actually know what it is about. Most have never read a book about it or even understand its history. The word itself has been used as a weapon against black women as a way of insulting them and making them feel as if they are not loyal to the race if they define themselves as feminists. The images of a group of anti male, masculine type, women who are all lesbians, springs to mind whenever the word feminism is brought up. Black women especially, have been conditioned to believe that the mythology around the word feminism makes it something they should refuse to be associated with. They havve bought into the stigmatization of the word itself, wtihout ever having even read one book about it. Black males are even worse, as they will continue to spread lies about this area of activism and any correct information about it is immediately dismissed as being "anti-black". This episode will explore the history of black feminism, how it came about, what it really is and why there is a fear of it. It will serve to inform and dispel the myths associated with black feminism and give one an insight into why it is more vital than ever to ensure that black women and men work to further its aims.

Celbrities and athletes such as Kobe Bryant and Lebron James have shown their support, but what does it all mean?. Log on or Call in to listen or discuss with us!
This is part two of a series. The scandal involving Bill Cosby and the rape allegations, is a major topic on the web as of late. The responses have ranged from full support of him, to people wanting his head on a stake. However what is often overlooked is the impact that these discussions are having on the victims of rape and how the ridiculing of the women involved, is ultimately going to prevent even more rape victims from telling what happened to them. The black community has a variety of views and a major one is why the women didn't come forward sooner. In fact, many have gone so far as to saying that the women involved in these allegations are all involved in some grand media conspiracy to "bring the black man down". We will discuss and explore the many aspects of this case, the responses from the black community and the historical norms behind those responses. Please feel free to call in and share your views and remember to follow Progressive Black Thinkers Radio by clicking on the tab.
