She’s the daughter to world renown Bishop Jakes, and First Lady Serita Jakes. She is working as the children’s ministry director of The Potter’s House of Dallas. She loves life, and enjoys writing. At the age of 24 Cora went through her first IVF cycle, and it failed. She was heartbroken, lost, and confused. She was able to find wonderful women through her sister’s blog sarahdjakes.com that had fought infertility and won. When she began to find these women they became her support and her push. Having these women encouraged her to continue to push forward, and pushed her to speak about her struggle to help someone else. She was able to find what she calls her community she calls her support community her fertility sisters, and without them she would have been lost. Cora Coleman now post in her blog weekly, and speaks out about her battle with infertility in the hopes of building a group of support for all people who are fighting for not just a baby but for their ultimate promise that the Lord has spoken over them. She is now a minister in training under the Potter’s House school of Ministry. She plans to continue to encourage people through her blog, writing books, and speaking out about continuing to fight for your dream no matter what obstacle you are facing. DS Gathering - God`s Promises \ As Promessas de Deus

    in Christianity

And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name.
Because I will bless, and give thee a son of her; and will bless her, and shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.
Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, 'a hundred years old of having a child? And she shall bring Sara light of the age of ninety?
And Abraham said to God, I wish that Ishmael might live before thee!
And God said: Actually, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son, and shalt call his name Isaac: and he will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. Genesis 17: 15-19

Afronerd Radio Welcomes Journalist/Author, Cora Daniels to the Show! Wed@7:30pm

    in Politics Conservative

Seasons Greetings to all our stalwart Afronerd Radio listeners!  We're back at it AGAIN with a two-hour showcase, filled with mirth, mayhem and mind expansion! It's Wednesday's Mid Week in Review airing 7:30pm EST.  Join Dburt and Capt. Kirk for another captivating sonic voyage when we interview esteemed author/journalist, Cora Daniels (Ghetto Nation) to discuss her latest literary effort, Impolite Conversations: On Race, Politics, Sex, Money and Religion.  Ms. Daniels' (with co-author,John L. Jackson, Jr.) Impolite Conversations, puts forth the notion of highlighting uncomfortable issues concerning the Black community with a type of prosaic frankness that might just fit in with a show called Afronerd.  Folks, this is not the show to miss.

And for the second half, we will literally continue with the segment we failed to broadcast due to time constraints stemming from our last great guest, Jamie Broadnax (of Black Girl Nerds).  The topics to be addressed are: the Ferguson aftermath spurs Black athletes to become politically active; is Geraldo Rivera correct about likening Black victimization to a form of urban suicide?; is hip hop artist, Jay-Z, the right police misconduct advisor for NY Governor, Andrew Cuomo; the new "Hands Up" anti-police rap video causes outrage and lastly, the minstrelsy continues with a new website entitled lightskinordarkskin.com that judges one's skin tone (really?).  Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.

The Book Tea With Deidra Hughey: A Seed For Cora Lee by Leamon E. Scott

    in Books

Engaging his creative spirit at a young age growing up in Watts, Leamon E. Scott grew up reading and writing as an escape of everything terribly defeating in his neighborhood. A short story writer, A Seed For Cora Lee is Leamon Scott's first long-range book which packs supernatural elements set in the most prolific city known for such.

"Layered with supportive subplots, the perpetual concept of good versus evil is convoluted by supernatural events that carry the reader on a psychological adventure filled with uncertain doubt and obstinate skepticism. Finally, the reader is left to evaluate his or her own ability to cope and manage the ideologies presented in this story; particularly, in the context of our ever fragile and evolving human existence."
