Are You Using Coping Mechanisms to Deal With Your Stress?

    in Self Help

For some people, stress and pressure are badges of honor.  Many people talk proudly of how much stress they are under.  The implication is that these people are stressed because they are doing very important work and have a significant amount of responsibility.

On the other hand, for some people, admitting to having stress is a display of weakness.  Women (studies show) feel more comfortable using the term "stress" than men.  They describe feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and tension as stress.  Even depression is often described as a symptom or a result of stress.

Whatever we call it, prolonged stress is not healthy and should not be touted as an essential part of life.  However, new findings have come to light that tell us it is not the stress itself that is dangerous but whether or not we believe we are stressed.  In other words, it's the way we "feel" about stress that makes stress stressful.

So, if we feel stress is harmful and we talk about how bad stress is for us, we make it even worse.  If we don't see stress as bad or harmful, it won't be.  The power of the mind should not be underrated.  You can do lots of simple things to manage your stress.   Join Choices host, Judi Moreo, author of You Are More Than Enough, and learn what you can do.

    Stress Tested

    in Christianity

We become steadfast Christians, able to endure and overcome, through the power of Jesus Christ. Job stress has become such a universal problem that many medical professionals now classify it as an occupationally related disease, precipitating numerous other serious problems such as ulcers, depression, and even suicide.

Over time, you truly will find His strength, wisdom, and presence sufficient for the fray. Your stress will become a catalyst for spiritual stability instead of an agent of destruction and despair. The pressure will reinforce your faith, not weaken it. We became steadfast Christians, able to endure and overcome through the power of Jesus Christ.

    Coping With Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

    in Psychology

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects thousands of state and local police officers, armed service men and women and civilians of every description. PTSD is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of a life-threatening event. PTSD can stem from military combat, natural disasters, terrorist incidents, serious accidents, or physical or sexual assault in adult or childhood. The majority of people who experience or witness a life threatening event will return to normal given a little time. However, some people will have stress reactions that do not go away on their own, or may even get worse over time. PTSD is complicated by the fact that people with PTSD often may develop additional disorders such as depression, substance abuse, problems of memory and cognition, and other problems of physical and mental health. Tune in to this segment of The NLP View Radio Show, as host, Donna Blinston,R.N. is joined by expert, Dr. Richard Gray to discuss his research on NLP as it pertains to PTSD. Today’s show is brought to you by LiquidWeb.com the most reliable hosting provider with  24/7 heroic support!  Listeners of today’s show will receive one hundred dollars credit towards Storm Servers, which includes Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated hosting or you can try LiquidWeb’s shared hosting for free for one month by using the coupon code: “orgview”. Please visit LiquidWeb.com and make sure you tell them that you found out about them on the show! Stress: Life Is Not A Competition

    in Spirituality

There is a need for caution to not approach all of life ‘as if’ it were a competition.  When this is taken to the extreme, we often find ourselves at the abyss. Since contention in the extreme is bad, even a sincere individual will fail if he/she pursues winning at all costs. Tune in this week as Nancy Herold and I discuss how we need to be careful and not allow ‘the situation’ of stress to get out of hand. Spiritual maturity means being judicious about our choices and actions, ensuring that our lives remain stable. Because stress comes with a high level of tension, we need to either retreat from contention or remain passively in place. Learn that the subtle truth is that ‘waiting’ may be the proper way to handle stress.
